Yeah, that was one painful stumble after a decent enough string of episodes. Resolution of the Scorpio storyline was weak.
Rest of the episode was ok enough. I do find Tsurugi entertaining, at least. |

I guess there are some truth in what Stinger said in a previous episode. Scorpio originally become strong to protect him, but lost his way and corrupted himself with the lust for power. I guess the near death experience made him realize that's the truth, so he sacrifice himself by absorbing Stinger injected venoms. Stinger strengthen his resolve to get stronger and protect what he cares for besides himself and starts to open up to his teammates. I agree this episode should have just focus on Scorpio instead of cramming Hooh Soldier in to it. Next week, it's more of a Spada episode mixed with Hooh soldier showing off his mecha. I was expecting the team to lose to Scorpio this week and Hooh soldier save them, but it makes sense for Stinger to have the final battle with Scorpio.

Does anyone know what Kyutama, Tsurugi was holding at the end of the episode?

Wait, he's gone already? But I thought he was going to be the villain that would be throughout the whole show and be developed.

Yea, this Episode....umm.....NO......
So we start off very heartwarming with Champ's return....and don't get me wrong, I really liked this scene, and props to both Stinger and Champ's actors being able to really nail down this moment making it feel so heartwarming(really liked their back & forth banter like old times, but this time with some undertones of care for each other), but.....honestly, I really wish they kinda played up a bit on the possible consequences of Champ possibly not returning completely to his old self again due to his reboot. I'd have liked to see some time of Stinger reacting to how badly his mistake cost Champ, and for him to really have some time of reform. At the same time, we could work this as a mini-Arc of Champ slowly regaining his memories, until he finally becomes whole. And know WHEN that mini-Arc should've ended....? A while later, definitely a couple Episodes down the line, around when the Scorpio conflict should be ending.....ya know, like THIS SCORPIO CONFLICT ENDED, EXCEPT NOT SO ABRUPTLY LIKE THIS EPISODE?!! MY GOSH, Kyuranger dropped the ball on such a good Arc! I didn't at all expect this Episode to be where Scorpio is actually defeated....but for them to not just stop there, but to make him all of a sudden flip good & defend his brother, after all the scumbaggery he's done all this time?! C'MON NOW.....Really?!! And then let's talk about Ho-oh Soldier...........WUT. IS. THIS. GUY'S. DEAL. I....really don't know what to make of this guy. He comes off as a showoff who....can actually back up his words, given how he was almost singlehandedly able to ward off an entire fleet of Consumarz! (Now watch as later Episodes don't portray him with feats NEARLY as impressive as this....) But what bothers me the most about his introduction is.....just how abrupt it is. We barely know ANYTHING about him, and he doesn't even really interact with the team. He just comes out the Argos, destroys the fleet, and then leaves off to do his own thing? There's barely any context here on this guy......

From what I've read, the Argo becomes his Voyager. |

I mean that's better than discarding it completely but doing all this work to find the "Legendary Argo" just to receive another Ranger and his mecha who will be beaten to a pulp by regular MOTW's in about 5-10 episodes is kinda lame.
To be fair, getting the ultimate weapon to save the universe this early on wouldn't have worked anyways, but in that case, they should've just played down the myth a bit. However, if the real weapon/power to destroy Jark Matter is locked behind something the Voyager literally opens like a key would then all is forgiven, then they made something really clever with this, because as far as I remember the Argo was said to be "The key to defeating Jark Matter" or something like that. |
