As promised here comes the ranting: The issue with the Go-Buster toys is that, for the most part, they all look better individually. Ace looks amazing by himself, Trucker-Kong and BunCopter is the same. They all look great uncombined. They you put them together and it looks like someone had fun with the superglue. Beet and Stag are the same way. great vehicles, great robots, even a good combined mode. Then you combine everything together and it makes G-12 Explosion look like the most beautiful thing in the world. To paraphrase Baltmatrix "It's a clusterfreak of plastic".
And that's the only issue I have with that whole line. Always has been. |

True that, but they're actually handled pretty well in the series. I'll try not to spoil anything to much, and just say that they don't always go with the biggest combination when dealing with giants.

I'm totally with you on this one. Both in show and toy forms, the Go-Busters mechs are all so much better on their own. It's a good thing the show actually uses the uncombined forms a lot.

That's exactly how I feel about the minipla. Individually I'm completely in love with them, but the minute I put them together I realised just how much I hate the combination. I don't think GreatGo-buster is going to fare very well when I get Beet and Stag either.

Hmm. I like all the forms overall. I will gladly put them on display as individual forms as well as the combined forms (aside from the fact that Great Gobuster is a little TOO big to display properly). At least its better than Samurai Haoh.

I don't know about that. I really like the Go-Buster toys; the individual mechs look great, as you said. But I have to disagree about the combined forms. They all scream bulky and powerful, which is something that certain mechs and Megazords have trouble doing. Gokai Oh is a shining example of everything that GoBuster Oh fixes. The vehicles were so simple that they served no purpose other than combining into Gokai Oh (or being left off, for that matter). Here, they have individual weight and they make the combined mode have more value than just being the Sentai's only robot.

I'd preferred the galleon to form the mecha by itself ala the Astro Megazord/whatever it was called in Megaranger, but yeah I agree about the random pointless vehicles. They only seemed to be there to have a "TRADITIONAL FIVE COLOURS" robot.

Unfortunately I just feel the Gobuster mechs fall short in pretty much every way. I own all of them but I can't see myself keeping them indefinitely.
Let's look at Gobusterohs' flaws: -The combined mode head is essentially a mask over a very tiny head -The chest piece barely holds in with friction. And when I say barely I mean that if you nudge it with your hand it falls out. -The shins on Ace stick waaaaay out to the sides from where they connect to Gorisaki. -The tiny fists/flat arms are really unimpressive Great Gobuster: -Incredibly thick upper body -By contrast it has LONG chicken legs -Again, giant mask snapping onto the front of teeny tiny head - Rabbit arms? Just shove them on the back plate -Gorisaki? Just balance him on the back plate too -GobusterOh Mask? Just shove it on that ridiculously long staff that can hardly balance while being held by a teeny tiny peg Honestly each individual figure has it's shortcomings, each has positives. But the combined forms in any capacity are not well executed. Take the Hercules for example. The Stag arm weapon is so heavy that it weighs the figure forward severely throwing it's balance off. And there are so many tiny appendages that point all over the place (wings on the chestplate, legs on the stag weapon) that it makes the joints that do exist in the terrible arms completely pointless. Not to mention that the giant Stag jet gun is too long to pose at the same ratchet as the other arm. You have to lean it even further forward than the other arm, throwing the balance issues into further peril. Look I hate to rant about these toys, I love love LOVE big clunky DX Robos. I really do, but ever Since Boukenger quality and design have been slipping hardcore. You want to do the big cluster machine of doom, then honestly the Ultimate Daibouken is the way to go. You want the big giant monster combiner that's absurd but awesome, then the G12 is the direction you go in. The GobusterOh and Great Gobuster lean further into the direction of absurd and ridiculous in a bad way. They lean towards using all the pieces, which I appreciate more than anything, but at the cost of the Robo looking anything like it does in show. It's pathetic and sad. I can only hope that the Tategami RaiOh rectifies this toyline by being awesome. If it's another Ace then I'll be pleased. If we wind up with another Beet then I may sell everything but the Ace.
