Most likely. The US is the like the second biggest market for Godzilla. It will probably be a few months after it is released in Japan. My guess Funimation could pick it up given how they are releasing Shin Godzilla.

Gen. Well, judging from his past works Godzilla is going to be in for some serious shitake mushrooms. Very interested to see where this goes though. Very excited.

I hope the CG is good. I do think Japan can pull off good 3D animation as seen with Captain Harlock and the upcoming Gantz film. Not to mention Ajin: Demi-Human look pretty great and this is coming from someone who is a big fan of the manga. So I have hope that the animation and story will be good.

Godzilla is at his best when he's a set piece IMO, if you're going for a real dramatic story and not a camp fest of monsters fighting in ridiculous ways. It's hard to give character to a force of nature like he is without making it seem too campy. Plus, he loses his allure when he's over-exposed.
You don't have to focus on the natural disaster, it's impressive enough just doing what it does. The people and how they survive is where the movie's heart should always be. |
