I just watched Garo Ashura too and while admittedly it wasn't a whole lot, I'd go as far to say it was better than almost the entirety of Makai Retsuden save for maybe the last 2 episodes.
It was amazing to see Kaoru back with a young Raiga, and framing it like a story was a great idea since it worked so well with the green screen backdrops. A while series done like that wouldn't work well, but for a one-off special it was perfect. The acting was passable and while there wasn't much in the way of choreographed fight scenes, the armour stuff at the end more than made up for it. Then to top it all off Savior in the Dark plays over the credits. I'll will NEVER get tired of that song.

GARO Ashura: This was totally amazing! Well first of all it was great to see Kaoru again after seeing Kouga again and with a child Raiga was adorable and sweet. Now Gouki's story was awesome, well I am a fan of Hiroshi Tanahashi from NJPW and I love watching him fight. So watching him in GARO was just another bonus. I enjoyed Gouki besides being powerful being inspiring and being exactly what you would expect from someone who held the title of Garo. I would love a series with him but I think he'd have to stop wrestling for a bit to do that. I loved his GARO Soar form that was an interesting design but just loved the fight with it and the finisher was great too. Great mix of wrestling and Garo here. Very entertaining special. Makes me want to go watch more of Hiroshi's fights. Well with the original series airing next I'm not sure what to do for my GARO fix.

The Garo Ashura special was so damn fun. It was great to see both Mika Hijii and crazy greenscreen stuff again. I sorely missed both during Makai Retsuden. I know absolutely nothing about Japanese Pro Wrestling (which apparently is a thing), but I did enjoy Gouki, his story, and his obviously foam sword. I would definitely be up for seeing some more ancient Garo stories like this in the future (that aren't anime, obviously).

UltraMan Neos Episode 1: This was a good and fun first episode. I enjoyed the HEART team in the beginning though Kagura easily stole my interest pretty fast. Honestly it reminded me of similar elements of UltraMan that I've loved before and UltraMan Orb's first episode too. I am intrigued by the Dark Matter phenomenon going on here and bringing rocks and more to life. The battle with the Rock monster was pretty awesome overall it reminded me a bit of Nexus at times. Kagura just has no fear here with breaking out of the jet to go try and save the his teammate. Kagura is just likeable, courageous, and heroic. Neos is amazing, his agility is amazing I loved his battle when he got show off what he could do against the monster. He was jumping and flipping all over the place. Well I can't wait for more, I do tend to enjoy the shorter series.
UltraMan Neos Episode 2: Well I enjoyed learning about how Kagura became Neos and it was good to see Zoffy again. The mystery tower and the Zamu Alien was intriguing, I enjoyed seeing Kagura try and convince the alien not to evolve. I also felt sad for it that the evolution went wrong so Kagura had to stop him. Neos kicked butt though he is awesome watching him fight and I love Kagura's conviction. The HEART team is kind of growing on me even though they barely get any character right now. Still a fun show and I can't wait for more. UltraMan Neos Episode 3: I am really loving Kagura mainly because of his passion to both understand the monsters and the world; as well as how much he wants to protect and save people. The fish monster was intriguing and lead to a great fight which is one of the highlights of this series because of Neos' awesome moves and agility. My other favorite part was that he returned the monster to its normal state and calmed it down rather than destroying it. Not all the monsters are evil so I do love when they try to save them when it is possible to do. I am starting to like the team their interactions were fun and especially them getting the Captain to buy sushi at the end was hilarious. It's definitely has a feel that is reminiscent of the original UltraMan series and I'm pretty sure that's deliberately done. Well I can't wait for more. UltraMan Neos Episode 4: I love the cooperation between Neos and UltraSeven 21 that was awesome. They both kicked ass this episode and both fight insanely well. I love all the wrestling moves and other attacks they pulled off was great to see. It's interesting that UltraSeven 21 can mimic other humans like he did, I wonder why he doesn't take his own host. They HEART team is pretty standard here but they kind of took a little back seat focus to the random civilian story here not that I mind that every now and then and it looks like we're getting more of a focus on the lancer-type character next episode too so that should be good. Really enjoying it though the action makes it well worth it and Kagura's personality of always wanting to help people. UltraMan Neos Episode 5: This was a really good episode for Uematsu, Hino, and the Captain. I liked that Hino made up for mistake and even though he quit the HEART team he felt the need to go back and make sure his team was safe. It was very reminiscent of something that Arashi went through in the original series. Uematsu going to safe the kid and risk his own life was great and him trying to help the Captain realize Hino is important to the team too was as well. The Captain knew very well how important Hino is to the team and didn't even scold him at the end for coming to help them and that just shows he's a good captain and not as crazy as some others I've seen lol. Like normal always love to the team defeat the monsters without the UltraMan's help. The action is great like normal and I do love when the UltraMan and the group help defeat the monster together. Kagura was supportive, caring, and protective like normal and still continues to be awesome. Probably the best episode so far and I can't wait for more. UltraMan Neos Episode 6: Well it's nice to see a connection to a past alien here. Turned into a very dire situation for some of them though but Kagura and 7-21 got it. I have to say that UltraSeven 21 fighting at normal size was a bit weird but awesome though I wouldn't mind more of that in UltraMan but it might make it too Sentai/Rider-like if that happens. Still UltraSeven 21 was badass and have pretty cool powers and I enjoy him being this helpful secondary Ultra character. Kagura was also great trying to help the alien learn that their leader wanted what happen to happen if things went wrong. Too bad the alien was too stubborn but good thing for Neos and 7-21. Great action like normal and the shots they get of the attacks are brilliant too. This show has been really enjoyable and I can't wait for more.

Did they give a reason as to why Garo's fourth episode was skipped?

Just finished watching the Bikuu movie. My memories of her in Makai no Hana are fuzzy and I found her Retsudan episode rather forgettable (Daichi's was good though), but damn this movie made me see the character in a whole different way. So so good. It's really great to see a whole film centred around a different aspect of Makai lore.
My only complaints are that all the "twists" you could see a mile off and that white costume Bikuu wore in the mind realm was really really stupid. The film does a fantastic job of avoiding any overtly sexual imagery but then they throw that in instead :/ Especially enjoyed the ending. Not just the confrontation between Bikuu and Byakki but her immediate reaction to Daichi as well

UltraMan Neos Episode 7: It's good to get back to Neos. It was a fun episode seeing Bamo and the scientist's bond together and Kagura and Nana having fun with them. Though it sucks that Bamo went out of control but glad he was able to be calmed instead of destroyed. It was a nice heart felt episode and it had fun moments too. Also the action was incredible again. Well I can't wait for more.

UltraMan Neos Episode 8: This was a great episode for Ayumi and learning about her and her professor's daughter. Also great action like always and a great lesson about independence and humankind fighting to not be monsters. Enjoyable episode and series so far.

Garo Honoo no Kokuin's English dub. That's an AMAZING first episode, shows world building, cool fight scenes, dash of humor and insane animation. Should have watched the Garo series sooner
