Everybody has their favorite movies. i am interested to hear what everybody on Tokunation is into. I would like to talk up a personal favorite
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - It was way better then it had any right to be. And it finds the perfect balance of taking the material seriously without being too serious. It's pretty amazing I am usually a dumb comedy kind of guy ( Hot Rod , Ricky Bobby , Anchorman , I Love you Man ) & Superhero movies ( Marvel studios has yet to make a bad one and i loved Amazing Spider-Man ) I also have childhood favorites ( Goonies , Monster Squad , Batman Forever ) Anybody else out wanna talk about their movie choices ? |

I love the Back to the Future movies. I also quite enjoyed the Jurassic Park series. I'm glad they've decided to do JP4 after all.
I generally tend to enjoy really cheesy/comedy movies; I kinda have a soft spot for Rom-Coms also. I like most movies I watch because, like everything else I avoid being overly critical of things. People will go on and on about how this and that made it bad, and I just go "meh"

Tron: Legacy is something I'll drop whatever I'm doing and watch when it comes on Television. No matter what I'm doing, or what part of the movie I stumble on.
They weren't perfect, by any stretch of the imagination, but I enjoyed the Bayformer movies. I admit when I watch them on DVD or Dark of the Moon on Netflix that I skip most of the human-exclusive scenes to get to the Transformers. But when I watched them start to finish in the theaters I enjoyed them. I know, I'm a monster. Shut up. I enjoyed Lord of War, Boondock Saints (The sequel not so much), the first three Underworld movies (I haven't seen the last one yet), Iron Man and Iron Man 2, the Tim Burton Batman movies, every DC Animated Movie. I don't enjoy the Marvel animated movies. They're just not very good, alot of them. I also don't enjoy the Star Wars movies. They're not bad, and I don't hate them. I've just seen them so many times when they come on I usually just roll my eyes and find something else to watch. I love Flash Gordon. It's so horrible it's enjoyable (Flash Gordon: A Movie so Bad not even Queen doing the Theme Song could Save it). I also never enjoyed the Highlander movies, yet I loved the television series. Mortal Kombat I loved. The first one only. Annihalition was an Abomination. On the Toku Side: The last Toku movie I watched, and really enjoyed, was Den-O OOO All Riders v DaiShocker. I don't like horror movies. Not because I don't like being scared, because they're just idiotic. I know this comes from a man who watches Kamen Rider, Sentai, and Transformers and thinks "That could happen!". But alot of Horror Movies? Oh the Child's Play movies really annoy me. Just because the premise is so damn idiotic. Same with Nightmare, and Friday the 13th. There is a series of horror movies I do like, though. Puppetmaster. I could never explain why but I always enjoyed those. I love Kung Fu Hustle, and Hero. Final Fantasy Advent Children was good, a little overrated because people were all (OMG CLOUD!), but still. Despicable Me was good. Also enjoyed one or two of the Star Trek movies. The Trek movies are on the same level as the Wars movies. I used to love them all.. then they were overwatched in my house and that was the end of it. |

I'm with you on the horror movie tip Sentai. I really get nothing from watching people get chopped up. And I'm not saying that they are all the depraved scum of the earth, but every horror geek I have ever come across is the worst type of person.

I'm not one for heavy thinking, so I loved the TMNT movies.
However, Tomb Raider:CoL bored me to tears and remember that Avengers movie with the clone of Emma that was never answered? Oh dear God, that movie sucked BALLS. |

Well, my favourite film is The Nightmare Before Christmas so following on from that I guess I could call myself a Tim Burton fan, although his films are reasonably hit or miss. Sweeney Todd was the last one I really enjoyed, although I haven't seen Frankenweenie yet. His Batman films are still the best Batman films as far as I'm concerned.
I love comic book films in general, with Marvel currently dominating that department. I hated X-Men 3 and Spidey 3, but enjoyed Daredevil, Green Lantern and (to a lesser extent) the first Fantastic Four film. Apart from Doom who they seemed to completely miss the point of. On that subject, Amazing Spider-Man > Raimi's trilogy. Hmm what else? I enjoyed Revenge of the Fallen a lot more than Dark of the Moon, although the first Transformers film is still vastly superior to them both. I love my kanji films, but while Godzilla is the franchise that stays consistently good the Heisei Gamera trilogy wipes the floor with every single Godzilla film with perhaps the exception of the original. I hate Final Fantasy with a passion, but enjoyed Advent Children.

You know what movie really makes me angry? Moonraker. I liked the plot (What little there was of one), I loved the pure cheese of it. Including the final laser-space battle.
So what made me angry? Corinne Dufour. Drax's personal assistant Bond half-assed seduces to get a vial of the poison Drax plans on using to 'cleanse' the Earth. When Drax learns she betrayed him he calls her out to the hunting grounds., and she arrives driving an electric golf cart. They confront, he eludes he's going to kill her, and Chang (His assassin. I won't get into the only asian man in the whole movie being named Chang, but whatever) releases the hounds Montgomery Burns style. Now Corinne runs. Which is fine. Problem is this moron runs right past the damn golf cart she just drove there in! What does miss Genius do? Heads into the woods Snow White style, dogs chasing her, and gets mauled off-screen. Because she deserved it! You drove there in the damn Golf Cart! Sure, it won't outrun the dogs but it'd give you a better chase than thick woods you'd never been inside of before! Star Wars did that... Alot. I like to think the prequels as their own seperate universe. Mostly for the sake of my sanity. Obi-Wan Kenobi in Episode IV said "I don't remember ever owning a Droid..." after spending three movies with the damn thing. Hell, R2 saved his live atleast four times! And how do you just 'forget' the greatest enemy in the Galaxy built C3P0! .. I won't get into that stupid idea. Then Obi-Wan said "There goes our only hope..." To which Yoda should've said "Serious, you are?" Kenobi, I know when you asked that you were old and dead. But Anakin Skywalker was your best friend, you thought of him as a brother, his betrayal was the one defining moment of your entire life! So how in the name of Mara Jade Skywalker do you just forget standing over Pandamamei giving birth to Anakin's Son and Daughter before she died of a broken heart (I also think that droid was wrong. Broken heart? No, she died because God punished her for her shitty acting). I also loved (Sarcasm ) the whole thought of "Yea, those really cool battle droids that don't exist in the real Trilogy? We just shut them down because Lucus couldn't afford them when he made A New Hope". So many plot holes.... so many... |

Never become a film student, it ruins everything =p
On a serious note i love Tarantino, Nolan and Edgar Wright. There isn't a film by them that I don't like, with Pulp Fiction being my all time favourite film. The wachowski's are also pretty cool, the Matrix films are pretty close to my heart and I'm looking forward to cloud atlas. Im also a sucker for anything Disney, more the animated films from pixar etc, then the live action crap like High School Musical... I enjoyed all of the phase one Marvel films, they weren't incredible, but i definitely enjoyed them and look forward to the next set =) Horror films are alright, gore doesn't bother me and I don't find them scary in the slightest, dunno why. Also Zack Snyder deserves more credit then he gets. Big fan of his too. |
