I think they meant that this show even a good show can have low toy sales.

Like, Lupin The Third is far more recognizable in the English-speaking world than a pulp novel character from turn-of-the-20th-century France. If Lupato is adapted in the US, I fully expect the Lupins to be billed as Batman-esque super heroes. |

I mean, if you're from France, maybe, but Arsene Lupin has zero pop culture footprint in the US.
Like, Lupin The Third is far more recognizable in the English-speaking world than a pulp novel character from turn-of-the-20th-century France. If Lupato is adapted in the US, I fully expect the Lupins to be billed as Batman-esque super heroes. I guess there's an argument to be made that the Lupinrangers were mostly self-interested, which would clash with PR's usual "the world needs us, Rangers" attitude, but again, whether or not the characters would be stealing things, in of itself, has absolutely no bearing on how heroic their motivations are, and as an adaptation, the hypothetical PR version is totally free to emphasize how they're taking the Lupin Collection equivalent for the good of mankind or whatever. I guess it's not like I have any real inkling what they'd do with it if they did decide to adapt it. Downplaying motifs from the Sentai isn't anything new, so I suppose it wouldn't exactly surprise me if they went in a direction like you're saying, but it's a striking enough premise I could also see them wanting to use it, and I don't think it'd take that much work to make fit. Unless I'm way overthinking this and we're simply discussing the issue of whether or not the show would want to outright call them thieves, or some other word that directly implies criminal activity? In that case... maybe? I mean, two of the Rangers in SPD were reformed thieves, so we're sorta halfway there already. I'll concede in a heartbeat that nobody working on the brand probably wants merchandise with a logo that says, like, "Power Rangers Thief Force" on it, so I don't think the team's actual name would be so blunt, but at the very least, I think the show itself would not feel obligated to skirt the issue in any way.

Oh also regarding this rumor, the person who reported this on Illuminerdi is trying way too hard to convince that his source is legit and we should trust him bwcause he's the one who reported that Austin St John would be back, and Yoshi Sudarso would also be back thus everytjing he reported should be true. It's rather hilarious. Hell, here's the quote I know what you’re thinking. Who is this person to claim what the new season is going to be? What credibility does he have? Well, I broke some of the biggest Power Rangers news at my old outlet, That Hashtag Show. I broke that Austin St. John would be returning for the Dino Team-Up in Beast Morphers, I also reported that Koda would be returning for the Christmas Episode of Power Rangers Ninja Steel, and one I’m really proud of is which Rangers were returning for the 25th anniversary of Power Rangers, Dimensions in Danger. This information is from the same source that told me Roxy and Blaze would be Enter and Escape from Go-Buster. Having recently departed That Hashtag Show, I’m now bringing all of my Power Rangers exclusives right here to The Illuminerdi.

It just seems like changing "cops and robbers" (which as a broad concept is still something people recognize) to "cops and some guys they don't like" is watering down the concept for benefits I'm not really seeing. Unless children are actively repulsed by the concept of theft, I don't see it making much of a difference on marketability, since the "Batman-esque super heroes" appeal would be there either way.
A "cops vs some guys they don't like" angle is exactly the same as a "cops want to arrest Spider-Man/Batman/Green Arrow/whatever vigilante" angle. That is one of the most common tropes in US super hero fiction. It's also not different enough from "cops vs robbers" to really change much, IMO. It just makes the concept clearer for young, American children. Quote:

This will probably sound sarcastic, but thank you for trying to explain this to me twice. This was genuinely a little enlightening.

They should just milk Go-Busters as much as they can and adapt Kiramager when it is over.

How is that trying too hard? He knows that people are gonna be like "who is this random guy, and why should we believe him?" So he's giving a decent-length list of times he's had accurate scoops about Power Rangers. It totally bolsters his credibility, I don't know why that's funny.
It'll be fun to see if Hasbro decides to do more originality with Go-Busters, but the news that it's bombing is surprising/worrying. I do think they should adapt Kyuranger, then LuPat and then Ryusoulger for 30th anniversary........... assuming Beast Morphers is the last to use the 2-season format. Otherwise adapt Kyuranger for 2021-2022 and after that straight to Kyuranger.

It'd be great if they went back to the 1 series per year format, but considering the 2-season format has proven to improve toy sales(mostly), I doubt they will. So assuming they continue doing the 2-season format, I'd say do Zyuohger for 2021-22, then Ryusoulger for the 30th Anniversary. Kyuranger can be done for 2025-26 so as to easily justify an SPD crossover.
Although, it'd be hilarious if instead of a new series for 2025 they just reran all of SPD, lol. |

When you think about it LuPat is the most perfect series to do the 2-season format.
