For who? Disney? I'm pretty sure they couldn't care less given they own things worth billions more than Power Rangers.

As I understood it, Disney never really cared for Power Rangers. There were other shows Saban had that Disney kinda wanted, so they got PR as part of a package deal. As time wore on, they didn't really want the show, and you could tell. That's the only was they got away with RPM. Imagine if Disney REALLY wanted Power Rangers, there'd be so much executive meddling, RPM would have just been Go-Onger-lite. With the "right" people looking the other way, we got what is (to me, anyway) the last great Power Rangers show.
As for brand recognition? That may well have been true to a degree, but also, Disney never really did a "Boys" show like Power Rangers is percieved to be. They got a show that could be that to them, so they kept it around. Makes sense. Until they acquired Marvel in 2009. Then they could just put out Marvel-related cartoons and such and hit a very similar demographic that Power Rangers would have, but with bigger names. |

I’ve read that Disney felt embarrassed to be producing and broadcasting Power Rangers. Why is that?

There's always been a weird stigma attached to PR. Even from people that read comics and follow other things infinitely sillier and more childish than Power Rangers.

From what I can remember, Disney got the rights to Power Rangers because they bought Fox Family in 2001. I felt like Disney stop caring about the series around the mid 2000's. They hardly market the PR shows and put them on shitty timeslots. As bad as current Saban is, at least they know how to market PR. We have more PR merchandise compare to 10 years ago.
