"Tokusatsu" means "special effects" programming, so it includes any Japanese TV/Movies that feature special effects, but over time the term "tokusatsu" has become commonly understood as humans that henshin and/or have a giant mecha.

You're getting tokusatsu confused with henshin heroes.

"Misunderstood" is more appropriate. Even within the niche of this fandom things like Godzilla and other kaiju are still tokusatsu as well.

Another great gallery. Once more this is another figure that channels the golden days of toys from way back, having a great nostalgic feel to it. I've said it before but I love beetle-inspired designs, though I gotta say I like his normal mode way better.

I don't even fully understand your question. Kabutack & Robotack (& arguably Robocon) were the last Metal Hero franchise shows. They are. Just because they don't features humans transforming means absolutely squat. Godzilla doesn't either and it's tokusatsu. It's about the special effects. Even in this same franchise, Janperson and Jiban were machines without human forms. They're still toku heroes.

I try but I can not like this one, just to simple for my liking though it does have a better face in its normal form than Kabutack. I will never understand why they give robots like these flesh colored faces/heads. So far out of the five superchange figures I have seen, Spider is the best followed very closely by Cobra and Horseshoe Crab tied for second, Kabutack in fourth then Kuwajiro in last.
Noooooo the cheesy cringe levels would kill us all!!! |
