Yup (Kong too), plus recent DBZ Figuarts (Awakening Goku, Beerus, Trunks) have been retail, and most of the Sailor Moon Figuarts were retail too.

So ignoring the fact that you don't have a source, every Godzilla release ever? No.
That's exactly what I'm talking about, aside from the Mosugoji figure (and the Juniors which I don’t count) every Godzilla SHMA (as in Godzilla himself) was available at retail. Sure, repaints were released through the Web Shop, but not the initial version. And the Mosugoji-one was Showa, and apparently Showa is of lesser interest in Japan. Otherwise I can’t really explain the extreme lack of it in this line. But Heisei and Millennium? Like 70-80% of those were sold in stores. You had your sets or more unique releases exclusive to the Web-Shop, but Godzilla's and his main enemies were always retail releases. Maybe that is a reason why this line isn’t doing well, but that's exactly what I'm thinking about: If the new mold is a Web-Exclusive release, then this line is really not doing well. Like, you can’t even blame the AvP-releases if they make a new Godzilla and don’t think it's interesting enough to sell it in stores. Completely ignoring Bluefin, because that’s not what I’m asking, Bluefin will release it in the US anyways. It’s Japan I’m thinking about. Because sure, with Dragonball they have said it sells well enough in the US that they can keep releasing stuff even though it’s not a top-seller in Japan. At least that’s what I heard. But still, new molds of important characters (Awakening Goku, Beerus, SS Trunks) are retail-releases in Japan, not Web-Exclusives. And I don’t know about Sailor Moon but I believe main characters are sold in stores too. So yeah, that’s what grinds my gears when it comes to SHMA. And I’m pretty sure at this point I’m thinking way too much about this and Bluefin will probably be wrong. Because I expect that the new Godzilla is unveiled next week and goes up for pre-order February 1st in Japan as usual. Or maybe they unveil it, Bluefin puts pre-orders up at the end of the week and Japan just waits until February. |

What are you talking about? All of the MonsterArts that were web exclusives in Japan sans the initial releases like Garuda were sold by Bluefin as regular releases. The same goes for DBZ and Sailor Moon. For example, Uranus and Nepture were web exclusives in Japan, but regular releases in the US.

The point is how well the line is doing in Japan. Because that would be interesting to know as it would say a lot about the future of this line. And a clue for that would be if they can sell the figure in Japanese retail or if they think it won’t be profitable enough and they only sell it through the Web-Shop. This is what interests me, not what Bluefin is doing with the figure. Because, again: All unique Godzilla-molds (Godzilla himself) aside from the Showa one were released in Japanese retail. Not solely through the Web-Shop like for example Biollante or Battra. If a completely new Godzilla mold, and this is what the SokogekiGoji should be, is not potent enough for Japanese retail in Bandai Tamashii’s eyes (and I do believe Japan is the focus with this line, I can’t imagine it sells that much better in the US) it might be hinting at how this line will continue to be on the backburner instead of making a true comeback which we're hoping to see. |

Okay, I'm totally confused now. Someone made a comment about them being a web exclusive in Japan so my response was that Bluefin will release it in the US as a regular release no matter what as they have been. Then some said I was wrong in that Bluefin was not releasing the web exclusives in the US.

Those where retail releases in Japan. I remember HLJ and AmiAmi had pre-orders for them when they never carry web exclusives. Bluefin releasing Godzilla web exclusives in Japan is fine for people in North America, but fans outside of that would need to use a middleman service. BBTS does release things from Bluefin, but BBTS shipping to other countries can be expensive.

We also know that Bluefin usually only makes something available for pre-order if it already is in Japan. Which would mean that this new Godzilla figure goes up in Japan next week. So that would point towards it being a Web-Exclusive. I just asked if that's enough evidence or what you guys think, maybe Bluefin is wrong and they only unveil him next week instead of him being available for pre-roder. That would make sense considering most new Tamashii Bandai products get first shown of in magazines releasing around the 20th of each month. I just wanted to know if we can expect this new figure to be a Web-Exclusive in Japan or not, because for me as someone who doesn’t have the service of Bluefin it would be interesting to know, and also we would get a glimpse of how well this line is doing in Japan if they don’t offer a new Godzilla-mold in Japanese retail.
