Well this came together beautifully.
So the Gifu Stamp can amplify the darkness within humans for their inner demons to emerge and take form, which kills the host. Vistamps are based on the Gifu Stamp to harness and weaponize that effect, but demons released through the stamps were uncontrollable and harvesting the power of inner demons through a Driver made the demon ate the host's life away. Then an unwilling subject was infused with cells from the Gifu statue which made the transformation stable, and the first Kamen Rider was a military super solider. That soldier later cut his heart and demons alongside with it out to escape, settle down and have a family. His three children all share the Gifu cells so they have unique demons as well and can transform into Kamen Riders. Also this is why the Igarashi demons act weird and react to Gifu's slow awakening. It's a big moment for a Kamen Rider show once the puzzle pieces fit into the big picture and they explain the "Why" and "How", and at this point I want to say Revice is among the best examples for how to do it right. Also, Kamen Rider Vail's design rules. I though it looked a bit militaristic, turns out that was intentional. Last edited by Kiwami; 03-06-2022 at 06:33 AM.. |

Man, what an episode. I haven't seen such world-building since Build.
There was a lot to unpack here. So thirty years ago the Vistamps were developed to release inner demons for military projects. Coincidentally, thirty years ago was when a certain demon-esque Rider came out on theatres, so now I have this funny image of Vail and Shin duking it out. Jokes aside, I can totally see why Chigusa went rogue now. And considering that they're still researching Giff, I take it that they still haven't given up on the whole 'military demon' thing. What I do want to know is how Giff's coffin ended up in the Deadmans' possession in the first place. I don't think they ever explained that. But considering Olteca and the Fenix dude (I can't remember his name) were shown to be mutual acquaintances, I guess (theory time) the Fenix dude (or at the very least someone in Fenix) handed over Giff to the Deadmans cult to create an excuse to continue the Vistamp project. Considering how Genta had his heart cut out to remove Vail, I would assume that the government tried to scrap the demon project to prevent future incidents only for the Deadmans to 'show up', forcing them to allow the Vistamp project to continue in order to combat this threat. This is pure speculation on my part so far though. Also, I assume the Gifu cells enabled Genta to survive having his heart removed.

I am not surprised about Genta have some connections with Gifu.
But this episode is very insteresting So, since Genta's children have special demons, I'm still wondering if Genta's wife also have special demon. |

Why would she? With the except of Alcatraz vs series, you can't inherit things merely from marrying someone. His kids have them because they are his kids. She is his wife. Not the same thing.

If they wanted to they could easily write in there how some of Gifu's cells stayed with her but I hope they won't, that seems kind of dumb. |

I mean... they could very easily just say she was another test subject like Genta and that's how they first met.

So is Vail like a by-product of the Giff cells implanted in Genta, or is Vail a part of Giff.

I've been waiting for the episode where all the pieces fall into place, and it looks like this was the one! I think it was pretty obvious before this that the Genta has some kind of tie to Gifu and that was the reason the Igarashi siblings could transform the way they did, but the actual nitty gritty of how and why was very interesting. Controlling Demons as a military project and using Genta as an unwilling test subject when he was near death is all appealing classic Rider stuff! Veil is an incredibly cool looking villainous Rider who I can't wait to see more of. Plenty of great characterization moments here too: Vice and Ikki's dynamic continues to be very compelling, Sakura gets a nice moment questioning what Aguilera is even trying to accomplish at this point, and we learn more about the Karizakis and what motivates each of them.
Looks like next week Daiji gets some more focus finally plus a new form. About time!

Vail is Genta's inner demon who "evolved" to his current state due to his host being implanted with Gifu cells I assume. |
