While the plot is pretty standard Sentai fare, The mecha fight makes up for it. I'm always a big fan of more mobile mechas.

It's a good thing this show's direction is so spectacular, because the writing is still doing next to nothing for me. The plot here did little besides establish where the Ryusoulgers are going to be crashing for the rest of the series. No character development, no real expansion of any of the stuff we learned about the setting last episode beyond some factoids about how the monsters are going to work this season. It's just aggressively thin, and while I'm not upset about this per se, I do feel like a Sentai show clearly trying to reinvigorate the franchise the way Ryusoulger is should've been able to come out of the gate stronger than this. It especially frustrated me that the debut of Kishiryuoh, which was obviously meant to be a big moment, is horribly undercut by the fact we just saw him last week.
Going by the name of the episode, I'm pretty sure Koh realizing he can fight alongside Tyramigo is meant to be the high point of the drama here, but when we've already seen him in the driver's seat before, I just... it reminded me of the early episodes of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers where they kept pretending we didn't already see all the Rangers' gear in the first episode, but Day of the Dumpster had the excuse of being a pilot meant to get the show greenlit. Here they just shot themselves in the foot for no reason. Mind you, I'm being a real whiner here. Just because it could've been a lot more doesn't change the fact that this is a perfectly servicable episode of Sentai. It entertained me the whole way through, and certain moments like the reveal of where Tyramigo is were great. I have no doubt this will be a show that gets better as it goes along. I imagine next week is going to be where Ryusoulger actually starts to find its footing. But before I get too off-brand with all this negativity, that direction! It's not even just the money shots like this one that make it great (although, come on, check out that flawless composition), the attention to detail extends to the "boring" scenes as well, and consequently makes them significantly more engaging. Granted, it's not anything too crazy, but the restraint Ryusoulger has to not go overboard making every shot super dynamic is only another point in its favor.

The dad feel like the uncle from zio with hobby and a lonely kid to care about. It would be disappointing he doesn't add much to it like the gosei father and son or uncle in zyuohger. Brainwashing and alter ego darker persona is over done, but opening made him skeptic. Then there was zamigo getting dropped until troll til the end ,

I doubt it, but I wonder if each member control the whole mecha via head swap while the rest fight on ground because it would make sense red use the other two like accessories. Doesn't change the fact the changer is too tyraish.

I gotta be honest, I was a little letdown by this episode. The first episode was such a strong premiere, but this felt a lot more like by-the-numbers Super Sentai. It was cool seeing that dam again, though; I'm pretty sure that was used as a location in Skyrider.

Alrighty so where do we start?
The characters got some extra focus this time as we learned Kou is kinda dumb, Melt is extremely excitable about stuff important to him and was pretty embarrassed when this was pointed out and Asuna's been a bit bratty when she pinched Kou's cheeks and demand he let go despite her being the one who started it. Good stuff. Ui's old man was actually surprisingly likable and our good look at who I assume is our main villain, Kreon/Kureon/Crayon (Hang on isn't Crayon the name of a prehistoric era?) showed they're childish yet pretty damn disturbing at the same time. The camera work was yet again brilliant and I want it to be Sunday already lmao. The fight scenes were also damn cool, be it the cinematography, the mobile Kishiryu-oh suit, the surprisingly mobile Tyramiga suit or the fact we had the team try to fight off a giant without a mech, I was constantly getting excited to see what would happen, so all in all, I'm still very optimistic about this season That being said I'd have enjoyed the episode more if I didn't notice those goats getting it on in the background, yuck

I still need to ask:
So what's the connection between this and Super Sentai Strongest Battle aside from the black and green ones are in those four episodes? |

Considering Gaisorg's overall design (As well as him using a purple version of the Ryusoul Sword), probably him.

I wish they got an actress cuter than Ui. When I look at her all I can do is stare at her dumbo ears.
