Oh hey, this episode wasn't bad.
Honestly, I'm surprised. The focus on Stinger and Champ was great. I'm glad they finally addressed the animosity between the two, but this was a bit too bittersweet. They literally resolved it in one sentence. They brought up this plot point, let it sit for 9 episodes, and then resolve it with a single line? Fuck off. I'm glad Kotaro was the one to get the talk with Stinger. I was honestly afraid Lucky would. Anyway, I knew Kotaro was going to leave, but I figured he was going to leave once the Kyurangers left Earth. Huh. Well, I hope he's not gone too long. I imagine his return from training will come alongside the debut of Ursa Major SkyBlue. The combo of Champ and Stinger is a neat one, and I hope we see more of it soon. I like the idea of the two of them acting independently for the time being, it's something this show should've done more of. I hope this pans out well. Scorpio is neat, but this episode didn't really give much, so I'm curious to see more. Kyuranger quickly accelerates from annoying to average once the focus shifts from Lucky.

I guess the staff are realizing this is not the Yossha Lucky Show. Besides, he had a nice two-parter previously so that is good.

Was the whole Stinger/Champ thing really that much of a pacing issue? I've seen so much hate directed towards it but it seemed pretty clear they were shelving it for later when Stinger debuted and frankly 10 episodes of a show five times that length doesn't seem like a lot to me. The two haven't really interacted that much and when they do Champ is always quick to pout about it, so it's not like it was just forgotten about. As for Stinger letting Champ hate his guts for "no reason", he explicitly states that he considers his brother's wrongs to be his own this episode, which absolutely fits the kind of character he is AND matches up really nicely with episode 3, where he explicitly took credit for the killing without actually saying he was the one who killed him. Anyway, with my usual arguing out of the way for now (I swear we'll agree on something someday, Kiwami), this was a great episode. I was expecting just another "boring" setup but this was sort of the sequel to episode 3 I'd been wanting to see, bolstered by some above average action and the least amount of Lucky we've ever gotten so far. Good stuff. EDIT: Also I just checked and unless I'm missing something this episode had a shockingly low よっしゃ ラッキー! count of two. Counting the narration at the start. What is this new spore of madness?

Well, There was some good, and some bad:
The fight scenes were really good. Like, REALLY good. I really loved all of the 1st person shots, which I haven't seen since Amazons Season 1. The plot was alright. Scorpio left a lot to be improved upon, but at least Champ doesn't hate Stinger's guts anymore! Also, I don't think I've seen anyone in the thread mention this, but Kotaro leaving to "train" sounds like they don;t want to pay for this many actors, so they're rushing him off screen. I get the feeling that when the Kyurangers leave Earth, Kotaro will stay behind to tend to his brother. Just a small feeling.... Well, the episode was pretty decent. A bit excited for the next one though! |

Kotaro and Stinger leaving puts Balance and Naga back in the limelight as they are gonna be Ryutei Oh's arms next ep. Also Raptor gets to be a limb again.

I will say this episode did definately showcase something that I hope Kyuranger takes advantage of, that being the various different relationships and personality exchanges. With so many unique characters and personalities, there's potential for a wide variety of character interactions which this episode showcase with Stinger's interaction with Kotaro and Champ. |

If we ever get an HD Sentai game similar to Battride War, where we get to fight Sentai villains, I want Scorpio on the top 5 list of Bosses chosen.
Next to Basco, Enter, Juzo, and Bajira.

With Stinger, Champ, and Kotaro taking a step back really looking forward to seeing Balance, Naga, and Raptor take on more of a bigger role for the time being.

Maybe they could've made this feel a bit more natural if they spend time cutting back to the ship and have the two clash some more with other team-mates stepping in and thus delaying the conflict. As opposed to having me believe Champ just holds back for this long. Quote:

We agree on tons of stuff, I'm pretty sure of that. We just never make that big of a deal about it so no one remembers Last edited by Kiwami; 05-09-2017 at 05:41 AM.. |

Yeah but that's the thing, do you really think Champ would let that be it?
Remember, this is a guy who's all about justice. I always got the impression from Champ's tone whenever he's talking crap about Stinger that he's sort of in denial. Wanting Stinger to be the guy that allows him to finally get his vengeance, but also begrudgingly accepting that he's a Kyuranger and thus someone chosen to help save the universe. It's not even just on the merit of him having a Kyutama or anything. He saw him save Kotarou and his brother while also bailing out the team, himself included, back in episode 5. Not to mention his utter lack of remotely sketchy behavior since. I don't really think any of this is speculation on my part so much as it's just plain in the narrative, but even if it is speculation, there's at least as many ways for this to make sense as there are for it to not.
