I like that they're at least still trying to be Rangers so Odious doesn't know any different.

So much for the theory about saving Sledge for the anniversary episode.
And Poisandra survived too

So apparently everyone who thought Dino Charge took place in another universe was right. Personally, I thought Time Force fixed all the damage to the timeline after the series was done, but this works too.

I liked this!!! It was straight-up fun!!! They definitely spoiled the idea of Sledge being JUST an Anniversary Villain, but since he is definitely alive, then I know he'll appear again!!! It would be nice to see Kurliner and Buruburu make an appearance again instead of being just fan-service!!! You wouldn't think this would be how they handled the Ninninger Youkai Baku, but it ultimately made sense and the footage blended almost seemlessly!!! As far as I'm concerned, that hit-it with this one, and made PR history in the process!!!
P.S.: Monty and Victor market farts!!! Neo-Saban writers are still beholden to fart jokes!!! Really!?! P.P.S.: Fury and Curio were absent!!! This doesn't make sense, but an answer could still be given sometime later. Last edited by TokuKnight89; 01-27-2018 at 08:45 PM.. |

So much for all that hype regarding Sledge
If there's one rant I truly looking forward to hear from Linkara, it would be about the fart jokes because seriously, that's the lowest point regarding this show's humor writing. Ariake no Kata is rewritten as one of Sledge's prisoners? Is this why the bothered bringing him back? Maybe this episode needed to be a 2-parters, but it was a pretty average opener. Also wasted opportunity to introduce the new Zords and replace the old ones. |

So finally sat down to watch this today.
Overall, the plot of the episode was pretty great. Yeah, things didn't make a lot of sense at times (ninjas! in the daylight! in the park!), and the fart jokes took this down from being a great premiere to an average premiere for me. But seeing Sledge return right at the start to set up the action and excitement later on was fun, and a great way to introduce new villains (ie: Odius frees his prisoners to use against the Rangers). Could also open a way for other Power Rangers to enter this dimension ... and really sets up the whole "each season is a new reality" type of ordeal, which while I'm not a big fan of, makes it easier for Saban to tell big stories without us asking the question "WHERE THE OTHER POWER RANGERS AT?". Victor and Monty didn't take over the episode as they did in the first season, and their story was more or less a side-gag for the entire episode that didn't ruin the entire episode as a whole, so while I didn't like it, I can't hold it against them all too much. Still, too much fart jokes. I gave it a 3. Hopefully that's the end of the fart jokes for awhile. All in all, an episode I'll rewatch as I didn't find it horrible as I did most of "Ninja Steel". Let's see what the future holds.
