I've been watching Kouta Hirano's "Drifters" lately. I love it.

Finally saw this thing called Kakegurui annnnnndddddd... whuttheheckdidIjustwatch. This anime is BONKERS.
Fun fact though, the live action drama is currently running and it seems there are a lot of familiar faces in it. Protagonist guy is Ryugen from Gaim, Zyuoh Shark from Zyuohger is a crazy student council member with a revolver and thinks death is the ultimate euphoria, Poppy from Ex-Aid is a rich brat, and Mayu, the girl Hongo protects in that Kamen Rider 1 movie featuring Ghost and Kamen Rider 1 is roided out, is a student council member who acts all traditional. Other than that I am continuing to watch Osomatsu-san season 2, and finally I got on the Pop Team Epic bandwagon as well.

So I try to watch Kakegurui on Netflix because I want to check out the hype behind it. I remember hearing about it last summer and I think the show sucks to be honest. I give up after 4 episodes because I really did not like it. I don't see the big deal behind this show?
I find none of the main characters to be enjoyable and the fan service at times can be annoying for a show that is meant to be taken serious. There's a lot of high stake gambling matches in the show, but none of it felt like it pay off very well. With other similar shows like Kaiji, you have way more depth to the story and characters with gambling seeing how that show deals with themes of human survival and greedy rich people screwing over society. Kakegurui comes off boring and predictable with no real pay off to it. I have no plans on finishing the rest of the show. The only good thing that I can say about the show is that the animation was good. Everything else suck in my opinion. I would suggest to check out Kaiji or Liar Game (Manga and Japanese live action TV show. There is no anime adaption) instead.

I just watched the first episode of Kirakira Precure A la Mode.
I liked it more than Hugtto's first episode at least, but I can't say much more because a) I've only watched this first episode and b) Hugtto only has two episodes far regardless.

So I watched the live action Fullmetal Alchemist film. It ranged from okay to meh to bad-ish. But like all live-action adaptations, it suffers greatly from having to condense several chapters/episodes into a 1-2 hour film.
The film made several big changes from the manga/anime. Marcoh is killed, Winry takes on a more sidekick role, Tucker lives and is killed by Lust, Lust is killed at Lab 5, Envy takes on Mustang's appearance to kill Hughes (framing the Colonel for his murder instead of Ross), Gluttony's "false gate" form is used to regularly eat people (not when he's incredibly mad), the Mannequin Soldier homunculi are introduced in Lab 5, Mustang's "rival" Halcrow (in the film he's General Hakuro) is responsible for creating the mannequin soldiers and seems to be working against the Homunculi's plans, and more. One of the main problems of the film is that it couldn't decide who the antagonist/s were. It was just several villains doing bad stuff because plot. Much like the manga and anime, the Homunculi are set up as the antagonists but by the film's conclusion they don't really do much to justify this. They try to make Shou Tucker an antagonist but that falls flat as well. They try to make General Hakuro the final antagonist but it came out of nowhere and he wasn't interesting as a antagonist. Also, a lot of emotional moments from the series are kind of brushed away quickly or don't hold a huge importance to the characters and their motivations. They set up the Nina/Alexander Chimera but without introducing Scar and the film's condensing of the plot, that moment doesn't play a big part for Edward and Alphonse later on. The same is for Hughes' death . One of the most important moments in the series and it's just brushed over. And because of the condensed plot, a lot of characters are missing or aren't as interesting as they are in the manga/anime. Mustang is boring. Roy Mustang! One of the best characters in the manga/anime and the film makes him boring. It was ok/bad/meh but would've been handled better as a tv show (given that this was for Netflix, it could've worked if done well).

Finished up Land of the Lustrous this morning and had a really great time with it. The visuals are absolutely stunning, the characters fun and the world incredibly immersive. I really hope it gets a second season though because there are just so many questions left unanswered, and while I know I could always just go and pick up the manga it'd be a shame to carry on the story without that beautiful animation.

Decided to try The Seven Deadly Sins and finished the first season in three days. It was fun and would of finished it quicker but had work.
Once I watch the OVA Holy War I think I will give B: The Beginning a try since the first episode reminded me of Skull Man. I just hope it goes better than Skullman. |

Saw some of Fate Apocrypha. It was okay I guess.
Still chugging along that Osomatsu bandwagon.

I would like that opening more if I was shown it while I was still in school. The original dub opening is still the better and more catchy one.
