For the uninitiated, it looks like Ultraman because they're both characters owned by Tsuburaya!
The original Gridman was adapted in the States as Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad! This anime got better reviews than the Ultraman anime, but it's not easy to view because it was licensed and dubbed by Funimation. I've been hoping for something like this for a while! |

SSSS Gridman is absolutely amazing. A love letter to tokusatsu in anime form, as well as an awesome and moving story in it's own right that deals with some heavy themes like self identity and depression. Anyone who is even slightly interested should absolutely give it a watch. I usually don't buy series that are available to stream, but I will definitely be getting this one.

Nice. This'll most likely get a release here, so I don't have to import a Bluray that I might not be able to watch. (My Ultraman Bluray set shipped today. Hooray!)
If you like Tokusatsu (and I'm pretty sure you do) you should absolutely watch this show. This show is great! Last edited by Smozz; 10-16-2019 at 07:00 AM.. |

I watched the first episode last night (it's on Crunchyroll). pretty cool.
Normally I really don't get into Anime much, other than some classics like Akira or Ghost in the Shell,.. Attack on Titan,.. it really doesn't do much for me. But this was cool. Definitely a very strong Ultraman vibe to this, which I enjoyed. Looks like only 12 episodes so I'll have to make time to finish this. Thanks, Tokunation. |
