However, by your logic...an all-female team wouldn't hurt either, right? And well, I already explained why an all-male team wouldn't hurt. You may want to read the posts before? An all-female team may or may not hurt Sentai. I won't mind if they'll try it out. I personally won't watch it because it's not my type. Heck, they could do an all-male team then an all-female team afterwards. Quote:

Also, Ghost Busters rebooted to all-female. It was an all-male team before. Thor comics was male before but female now. Do you think these shows should stay the same? Quote:

It is a good comparison actually. You originally said the purpose of an all-female team is to break the stereotype that all superheroes are male. It's an outdated mindset. No one thinks all superheroes are male unless you are living in the 1950's. Similar to women with the kitchen jokes, which is a far more popular mindset than male chefs.
And okay not everyone thinks that all superheroes should be male, but you clearly think they all should be in Super Sentai. Quote:
Didn't Sun Vulcan have good ratings though? Again, with the ratings good, it didn't hurt the sales. It's just a few vocal feminists disliking one aspect of the show.
The best part about this is that YOU HAVEN'T EVEN WATCHED SUN VULCAN. You're crying out for an all-male Sentai team when you've had one, yet you aren't making any effort to watch it and SEE what an all-male Sentai team is like.

That's always kinda been the case. Men have been more professional cooks with their signature white clothes and tall distinct hats while women usually cooked domestically, sans schools of course because it's always lunchladies for some reason. Of course you have outliers with stay at home dads now cooking dinner (or working dads cooking dinner for their wives out of love) or women like Rachel Ray, Paula Deen and Julia Child to name the most well known ones, but that's why insinuating women are inherently cooks is sexist, the domestic Vs business sphere of cooking.

I'm aware of that, but that wasn't the point he was initially trying to make.

What I said was Quote:
That's the thing, while it won't hurt the viewing audience it will hurt the company. Like I said, taking out a female role model for the kids takes away part of their viewing audience. They lose out on merchandise sales as you take out the female character related merchandise. The best compromise is if you want an all-male team is to have them only START OUT all-male then add on female members/and/or have female support members that will take on the hero role. That way, the kids still have something to look up to and maintain interest.
Did you even read what I said afterwards? About a compromise? No you didn't. Otherwise you would've actually had something to say about it. Instead of taking it out all together. And one last thing. Sun Vulcan was popular at the time because it had some really cool ideas and people were excited for Sentai in general back then.
It didn't age too well though and the problem is not that the team is all male, but that most of the characters are pretty poorly written. Vul Eagle II and Vul Shark are cool, but not very deep. Vul Eagle I is kinda meh. But Vul Panther... urgh. The side cast wasn't too exciting to. The characters' gender shouldn't matter as long as they're well-written. Which doesn't apply to Sun Vulcan. I still thing it's good they usually have mixed-teams, because it's more fun to watch. You can variate plots more and playing with how the characters interact is a nice touch. I don't need another team of just one gender, but if they make it awesome, then yay. |

Which is why ZyuOhger is doing well. Yamato and the Zyumen have great chemistry and personalities. Save Tusk, but most people think he's the flattest ZyuOhger.

^ Most people in the international fandom, yes. The japanese fandom seems to like him even if Sela and Leo are the most popular so far. One more reason to love the japanese fandom, they have good tastes and they can tell the difference between a boring character and a good/decent played by a meh actor
Oh and Liam, i'm not a feminist but i still hate the idea of an all-male cast when Sentai is for kids in general... And i doubt the male fans who love female characters and think their great and well written if they're hot and cute are "feminist"... Last edited by YellowAccel; 07-03-2016 at 11:45 AM.. |
