It may be a direct translation but I think there's enough here for you to judge Samurai. To start things off:
It's Meh. Its not the worst season I've ever scene but it's no where near the best. No where near being no where near. Look, I know it's a direct translation. But, aside from Antonio, none of them can act. I'd call them worse then a 2nd grade play of Peter Pan but that'd be insulting to every second grader everywhere. Which really sucks. The Samurai Motif is such a good idea for Rangers, Origami is such a good idea for Zords. And they just.. spat on it. With loogies of suck. So for me.. it's a big One. |

I wrote a scathing review of Samurai. In it, I had an edited image of me holding a bloody sword and Jayden's head. Never had I felt such a fury at a series. The sequel was an improvement, but it's no RPM.

Steven Skyler (Antonio) is cool in and out of the show. When I met him, it turned out he actually watched Shinkenger to get into the part, because apparently they had Antonio written bland, so he wanted to make him more entertaining. Everybody else is pretty weak, they don't seem into their acting, they just seem to want to get the episode over it. I'm still peeved that (not trying to be racist) they made the Red Ranger, who is supposed to be the descendant in a long line of Japanese Samurai, white. Jayden could be an Asian guy, but they chose the white, frankly emotionless actor instead.
I rate 3, just because of Steven Skyler/Antonio

Samurai's entire intent was to bring audiences (kids) back to Power Rangers.
Congratulations, achievement unlocked. After RPM it's hard to watch something like Samurai and not have discontent for it. The show itself was, in all honesty, pretty bad ... it was an adaption series but of the lowest calibur. I understand the intent, again, bring the kiddos back to the franchise. But Power Rangers was growing up last time Saban had control, and it feels like we've gone major major steps backwards. My hope is that Megaforce is tolerable.

If by backwards to another point in popularity and sheer presence is what you mean, then yes. The show has reverted back to a point in sheer popularity that it hasn't had since the mid-90's. Saban has done an absolutely fantastic job in breathing new life and promotion into the franchise in the last two years. The cast themselves have had appearances all over the country, doing charity events, going to promotional events for children, along with the suit actors traveling the globe including meeting Michelle Obama in London. The merchandise has been excelling on all fronts, from toys to clothing to food to costumes. The Power Rangers Samurai logo was on merchandise ranging from nightlights to build a bear to megazords to macaroni and cheese. Even though the supposed "Intern Bot" isn't reaching its potential, is still making marked progress in gathering fans by reaching out to social media in Facebook and Twitter. Power Rangers Samurai has made quite a splash onto the marketing scene in the past two years and the show hasn't seen this type of exposure in a very long time. Granted, these are all levels of marketing that can be applied to anything, but we're in a much better place as a franchise right now, as Elie Dekel and the press has repeated, saying that this is an exciting time for Power Rangers. Aside from Samurai's inherent flaws as a series, it has produced a few episodes to me, as an adult fan that I enjoy greatly, such as Unexpected Arrival, Super Samurai, Trading Places, and Strange Case of the Munchies. I'm not going to sit here and sugarcoat what is wrong with Samurai as a show. I'm not blind. Mentor was less than useful, some of the acting was well below par, and the transition from Samurai to Super Samurai was painful. Story arcs were badly handled due to doing a Google Translate from Shinkenger. I would give Samurai a 5/10. |

The show is pretty to watch , but painful to listen to. It's cool to see Shinkenger footage in HD and the Yellow & Pink rangers are hot...but that's about all i will give it.
I think i am more supportive of the idea of the show for kids sake. I am content to have seen Shinkenger and letting that be my Power Ranger Samurai experience. I am going to give Megaforce a bigger chance since i haven't seen Gosei and it's pretty much MMPR 2.0 |

Power Rangers Samurai gets a 1 for being an insult to Japanese culture.

It gets a 5 from me. The acting is pretty dire, but I feel I'd probably enjoy the story much more if I hadn't seen Shinkenger so I'm not holding that too much against it. The fact it's brought Power Rangers back into the limelight should be held in its favour, but it's very much a kid's show and not one for adult fans.
The last few Super Samurai episodes haven't been that bad either, so I'm relatively hopeful for the remaining few episodes. ...seriously?
