Build Fighters Episode 7,8,9
Still not really feeling the Build Strike MK-II design. I prefer the blueish grey color, but I just prefer the overall look of the MK-I. Ahhh yes, time for the fanservice episode Mao and Misaka though, kawaii desu Sei's mom is wayyy too involved though. She's like Cartman when he was trying to be cupid. *Sigh* I really dislike this type of story. It's so cliche'd. Then again it led to a pretty boss fight with some awesome ass music. Andddddd Yuki looks like some villain from a Resident Evil or Metal Gear Solid game. Greco's eyes, THOSE EYES! Also is it just me or does some of the music in the show sound like it belongs in Nolan's Batman movies? Aila is such a robot. She's like Kristen Stewart level emotion level. Also, dragon Gundam crotch, that is all I just love how they do everything up ala Space Jam at the tournament. It's so cheesy but awesome. And that announcer To wrap this episode up, Sengoku Astray is a bad mother fucker. Oh yeah, Aila's team outfit is kinda funny but her Gundam is boss looking. A painting based on a toy based on an anime won an art contest. Life is so fun sometimes. God I love you Kousaka. Caro is still hilarious and I just love that her guard follows her even onto a slide. And just her overall reaction to Beargguy is priceless. I still don't quite get why Sei doesn't quickly put together one for Kousaka, or give her the one Reiji used in practice. But I goes it does make sense for her to try and do it with one she herself built. So good for you Kousaka-chan. God I love this show so much.

Build Fighters 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15
Well for starters, she looks like Moegi's mom from Akibaranger. Time to get crunk though before you get rekted. Live it up boys, live it up. Still fun to see Mao and Sei kinda fanboy it up at the party. And once again let Felini work his magic His drunk magic that is Actually hijinks ensue period pretty much throughout the episode. You know Kampfer means champion in German. Guess the name is truly befitting for Yuki's Gunpla. Still will never get why him being a Meijin means he has to act dickish and like some villain from a movie. But hey, show needed some form of an antagonist. Did I mention I like the Bugdum? Cause I do. Extra lulz for the whiole Felini girlfriend thing. Also, what a twist! All of this Reiji is an alien/other worldly dimensional person plot point is kinda boring, and unneeded. Godzilla Gunpla does make the fight a bit more interesting though. And zombie killing logic works on giant plastic robots too, good stuff. Chairman is a little pussy, but he's a funny little pussy. I love Reiji and Aila's interactions though, they're funny and it makes her seem less robotic. Good stuff all around. ----- Ral-san 44 is an unlucky number apparently? Don't really get that but hey, I guess I'll just have to roll with it. The whole random weapon thing is pretty fun though. Heck the variety alone makes it a great watch. For crying out loud a freaking paint spray gun was put in as a weapon. That's just hilariously cool. Nothing beats the baseball game though. Giant robots playing baseball. That shit is too funny New OP time and it's great! The chairman once again continues to be hilarious. Once again, I love this guy and pretty much everybody in the show. It's filled with such fun and great characters. The whole period idea is great too. Once again I just love the variety of things. Battle royals, four ways, a baseball game, and now a race. So many great ideas with pretty much fun and great execution. Just like the show, the variety is so fun. I mean come on, we have an octopus Gundam as well as other animal themed ones. Just, just awesome. It may be stupid, but Gunpla Mafia does have a nice ring to it. And the chairman continues to act like a little kid. This episode though man, the feels are strong with it. The fight against Felini is definitely one of the best fights in the show, it coming close to rivaling Yuki VS Sei/Reiji. Overall this episode just rocks like so many of the others.

So I watched Death Note while I was away. Good but not one of my favorites. Also the second arc is kind've boring but I think the pay off is worth it.
Anyone else realize Death Note is pretty much the Breaking Bad of anime? |

Yea sort at the point, it depend on what ending you prefer anime ending or the manga ending most people find the manga ending far more superior ending too what we got in the anime

Of course, the Death Note anime is completely jacked up. They took longer than necessary for the L storyline, but then rushed through the entire Near/Mello arc to the point where they even cut out scenes and characters. Not to mention they did not even bother animating the epilogue. |

Build Fighters review.
It's a good show. It's not really revolutionary in any respect asides from how unapologetic it is about the product it's selling. That's not to say that weakens the show, in fact the use of various tropes from not only Gundam but from other merchandise based anime (Yu-gi-oh in particular) is what makes this show so great. The characters are good but aren't new in any respect. I like the Build Strike Line and the Amazing Exia but that's sort of it, the other custom kits don't do it for me. That's not to say the show didn't sell me on more gunpla but I'm not a fan of their designs. My only real problem with the show is the Deus Ex Machina that is the RG system. Hell, I don't think they even explain how it was built (although it makes me think that it has an inner frame because RG also stand for real grade) |

Build Fighters 16, 17, 18
You know if I dreamt of dancing Gundams I'd probably try not to ever be awake again. Well that or actually put on some dance show or ballet with Gundams (Sei should totally take up stop motion film making). It is pretty funny though that Sei has never once given Reiji any sort of history lesson or advice on Gunpla. I know Reiji's just support to pilot but come on, it would probably help if he knew some of tricks of the trade. Then again it does lead to one of the funniest scenes of the whole show with Reiji and Aila learning how to build Gunpla. Still funny that in the show's universe they have not only Gunpla mafia but Gunpla police as well. But it's something that just adds to the overall fun of the show. Also the twist of the old man being Sei's dad isn't that surprising. It's soo easy to figure out from the minute he appears on screen for the first time. Though it does make you think what all Sei knows about his dad. Did he leave all of a sudden and his mom made up a story? Yeah...that aside, lovely episode. The joys of bringing your parent along to a tournament Ahhh Mao you Brock eyed kid. Karate = Gunpla fighting skills though is kinda fun to see. The old master is a bit of a pervert though. But the fact that we have a teenager and old man talking about anime girls is pretty damn funny. Not to mention the episode produced another great fight and even some feels. Double date! Also this show has a beer named Super Fly. Life is now complete And poor Mao. Now we come to a worthy contender to beat Wing Fenice for favorite Gundam of the show: the Sniper. This thing just looks awesome. It also leads to another amazing fight. I love how strategic the brothers are in their fight. In fact the whole strategy aspect of this fight as a whole I'm a major fan of. Just moving right along aren't I!

Macross Frontier: The False Songstress.
Despite Japan's constant use of the tool, I've never been a huge fan of compilation movies, I understand the logic of condensing a plot to get a theatrical release, but unless a show was done explicitly with that in mind, it always comes across to me as a poorly cut together version of the story, and rewatching all the footage just for a few new scenes doesn't sit right with me. That said I liked it with the Madoka ones, and I liked the unique approach for Macross Frontier. Undeniably this movie is aimed at fans of the show, it's not like the story is incoherent for newcomers or badly written, but it wastes no time in character introductions, all set up you get are a few sentences and that's it, some like Cathy, Luca or Klan don't even get that, we know they are there, but heck if they tell us why. So having loved Frontier, what did I think of the movie? I loved it as well, I liked that instead of being a simple retelling the events palyed out very differently, seeing the cast in a new adventure that yet feels familiar was great, the sense of mystery is great, and it left me wondering how everything will resolve in Sayonara No Tsubasa. And of course, the production values were great. |
