Bored with the antics of his subordinates, Genis decides the time has come to challenge the Zyuohgers himself!
As always you can view this episode via live stream on Saturday by heading over to Taima TV. They play other miscellaneous programs up until the live broadcast starts.
Live Streams of the Superhero Time block start at 6:30 PM Eastern Standard Time on Saturdays. |

Aw man, this was sweet. As much as it kinda sucks to have the villains be total bores the whole show, it admittedly makes it that much more of an event when they actually do something for once. I dig Kubar's scheming and how Genis plays him right back, and even more than that I dig how the whole plot this episode is completely out of the Zyuohger's hands. It's a great way to make to make the stakes feel higher.
And hey, they even remembered all the other robots exist! I'm really curious why the last fourth or so of the series suddenly decided to care about shilling old toys when the rest of it was unusually aggressive about not using anything other than the newest combination, but given how much I apparently care about this (seriously, it comes up like every week I post lol), I can't complain. If I really need to reach for a complaint, the twist with Fake!Micchan was telegraphed pretty dang hard, but honestly, that's small potatoes. Next week looks cool too, though the idea of Yamato meeting with some doctor who was apparently important in his past just makes me think of how Ex-Aid did basically the same thing with Emu a week ago. And I guess Azald's cubist design is actually a plot thing?! Easy now, Zyuohger, I might start thinking your villains are interesting if you keep this up.

Well, so much for the "Kubar teams up with the Zyuohgers" thing
I really enjoyed this episode. I really love the whole double plotting thing going on with the Dethgalians (All with Azald wandering around going "dafuq is everyone?"). I was really curious about the Cube Whale data thing, so I'm glad to finally see it play into everything, too. So, what a surprisingly complicated, yet also under-thought out plan. Capture Naria to make a Genis clone, use that to capture Misao. Create a Misao clone and use him to talk the Zyuohgers into fighting (I guess Naria wasn't too familiar with Micchan, if his clone was so poor. However, I'm not really faulting the Zyuohgers, since the big bad was right in front of them. Not exactly an opportunity you let pass), create an Azald clone to convince Genis to come down, create a dungeon-like castle to hold the Zyuohgers until Genis came to earth, and then, after all that...Just throw everyone at him and hope he's one of the casualties. Come on, dude Genis's new form is silly looking, but it doesn't bother me. Also, it was neat to see Wild again (We've gotten a couple fights with King since Octopus came into the picture). As for Azald and the cube thing, a lot of people were speculating on that being significant since everything about the heroes are cube themed...Maybe there is a secret to him. Oh, and Bard found Cube Zebra. Neat.

This was an awesome episode and I love it. Genis now becoming an angel of death and destruction. I do hope they will finally explain why Azald is made of cubes and can't die.
The doctor is most likely Yamato's father which actually would make sense as to why they never got along. Yamato loves animals and wanted to study them but his father probably wanted him to be a doctor so he was very hard on Yamato. This could cause them to argue and never get along to the point where Yamato would never see him again. But that is just my guess, who thinks I'm close? |

I actually love Genis's final form.
Cuvar is surprisingly complex villain for a Sentai villain. Azald's cubic structure is a plot point? Le gasp! |

Say what you will about the villain plot being a slow burn but DAMN if it didn't pay off. Kubar's plan was actually pretty genius in my opinion, but it felt like he tipped his hand far too early. Maybe next time make sure that what you're throwing at the guy you're trying to assassinate will 100% actually kill him (barring unexpected power-ups of course).
Like how about, instead of throwing everything at him at once, have just the Zyuohgers fighting him and using the fake Micchan to get them emotional to the point where they start winning. Then, have the rouges gallery hang back and jump out for the finishing blow if the Zyuohgers don't quite pull it off. It'd still be messed up by Genis' power-up but it seems less risky than just proclaiming your hatred right off the bat and losing any chance at back-stepping. One thing I will say about the slow burn approach is that it was actually more of turning off the stove at points and then turning it up to incinerate. The main plot stuff just seemed to be condensed into one or two episode blocks and then forgotten about for chunks of episodes. That's not to say the plot stuff isn't awesome, it just gets a little overwhelming having all this stuff happening at once instead of some of it happening over time.

This was the most intense and awesome episode of Zyuohger. Damn, I can't wait to see what happens next. I will say since the 30's Zyuohger has been on fire.

This was a pretty good episode, but Genius just made Naria 100% useless when he could have just been growing the monsters himself for the entire show. Why is she even here?
