Its funny that people keep saying that you can't "Catch them all" in Sword/Shield because they are limiting the Pokedex, but has everyone conveniently forgotten that essentially no game in the series has EVER let you catch every single pokemon.
In Gen 1 (and subsequent gens as well) you still had to trade between the versions to get every Pokemon, and only through transferring in later gens could you technically fill your Pokedex. Thats not to mention all the legendaries and mythics that can only be acquired through stupid Gamestop promotions and the like. No game has ever let you go into the game world and acquire EVERY pokemon through just playing yourself (though I suppose Ultra Sun/Moon came close with that whole Ultra Space travel thing, but even it had limitations I think). There has always been limitations of sorts. This newest one is defenitly worse, don't get me wrong. |

Everybody knows that, we're just using the franchise slogan as a shorthand to criticize the idea. Don't take it so literally.

I guess, being the type of player that tries to use new Pokemon, rather than holding a death grip on decade old Pokemon each game, I'm just not bothered by the decision.
While it is a bit of a bummer, I feel it's being blown out of proportion. The notion that all 800+ old Pokemon must be brought over in order to be a good game is something I find ridiculous. Add in the 100+ new Pokemon we get with every new game iteration, and it's just insane. I agree with the statements that there was going to be a certain point where the amount of Pokemon would reach a threshold, and there would be some growing pains from the decision. Still, it was a choice that needed to be made. If I'm going to be honest, the most disappointing this is the lack of Mega Evolutions returning. Z-Moves were nice, but I'm lukewarm on them, so I'm not heartbroken about them being missing.

Sorry but I’m still not getting the new games. No Mega Evolution and Z-Moves were the last straw.
Until there’s patches or the next games after have both full transfer capabilities and Megas/Z-Moves, I’m staying with Ultra Moon.

That's fine, you're not obligated to get the games in the first place.
I'm merely trying to present why everyone's reaction to their announcement is a tad much, not trying to twist someone's arm into buying something they don't want.

Hell, most Megas just make good Pokemon better with only a few actual salvations like Beedrill and...um...Yeah Beedrill. And Z-Moves are just an overanimated nuke or slightly fun modified Status moves when the modification isn't just "resets all dropped stats" like most. The dances and energy charges got boring frankly. |
