HeartCatch! Precure:
Alright, I just finished the series, so here are my thoughts... The characters are pretty fun, and they all develop well enough. The action was very good in the series, it felt like every punch had a lot of weight to it. The animation was alright for a children's cartoon. It was good, in terms of flowing nicely, but aesthetic wise it could look a little rough at times. I absolutely love the artist's style, it makes me really want to watch Casshern Sins now. Overall I just wish it took more risks than it did. It really felt afraid to leave it's Monster of the Week Formula, and as such the heroines rarely lost any fights, which made the heroines seem overpowered, and made the three villain generals seem very incompetent. The moments it does decide to take risks are awesome, I just felt like they were too few and far between. It doesn't make the show bad by any means, just not as good as it could be. What bothered me about two villians in particular, Sabaku and Dark Precure, are that they saved their character arcs for the very end, so they didn't do much or have much character until the very end, at the same time that could be a positive because it let them have this heir of mystery too them...but I feel like they dragged out the mystery for too long. The three generals were fine I think Kumojacky and Cobraja are the two that are the best, as I didn't like Sasorina much as a character, but she did have some good development...albeit kind of weird since they did something to get rid of her development, but then brought back the development later, but I think the explanation was that even that couldn't entirely darken her heart again. So, I guess it was okay...just a bit odd. The amount of filler bothers me too, in the last ten episodes there were about 2 maybe 3 filler episodes, one of which was a Christmas episode, but I bale Toei for that because "Omg! We NEED a Christmas episode guys!" The voice acting in this show is very good, with a very talented voice cast, and the soundtrack is one of the best points about the series, it's something I would listen to on its own, and heck even buy. In terms of being a kid's show...I find it interesting that they tackle certain topics that most kid's shows don't from the death of a parent, to divorce, to bullying (and it isn't heavy handed like a lot of other shows do it), to even gender identity with Itsuki a.k.a Cure Sunshine (although subtextually). So, I feel like that makes it stand out among kids cartoons from both the east and the west. The ending was also pretty good, again...it does something most kid's cartoons don't the show straight up pulls a Class 6 on the Apocalypse How scale (go to TV Tropes, if you don't know what this means). So, overall, I'd give this series a 6.5 out of 10. It's pretty good, but I just feel like it was too afraid of leaving it's monster of the week formula, and didn't take enough risks, but I feel that the characters, the moments where it does take a risk, and certain aspects of the ending (and that awesome soundtrack) push it up to well above average.

Finished the first season of Gundam 00 and it had a nice ending... until the first episode of season two in which everything four years later just went all to hell. Also the moment I saw that lockon is still alive is the moment I just lost my shit.

Now up to episode 20 of Code Geass R2. Almost done.
Did Nina really develop the most devastating weapon the world had ever seen and then seriously not expect people to be killed by it even after demanding it be detonated in a city?! God do I hate her character. She just does not make sense.

Well I started my re-watch of Evangelion and went through the first five (yay for the DVD having them in one go). I have to say watching it now as an adult is much better. I first watched it when I was nine and since I wasn't use to anime a whole lot yet outside of DBZ, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Rurouni Kenshin, I had no idea what the fuck was going on. Now though through years of hearing about it and now seeing it again and being use to the medium and the genre, it's quite a different viewing experience.
The story so far is alright. I honestly don't really care at the moment about anything other than Shinji himself. He's a very interesting a character and is quite fun to watch from a psychological aspect. He's a child who has been thrown into a situation he's not use to, conversing and being around people he doesn't know, and is there simply because his distant father as decided that he's "Of use to me now." This all gives him a lot stress which effects his psyche, and five episodes in it's already shown. I'm not sure what all he was like before this all happened, but it seems like he was always the type to do whatever he was told which does make him out to be a respectable young man. But being thrown into a situation in which he's basically told that he has no choice and if he refuses he puts another person at risk effects him quite a lot. He has his problems which are becoming bigger because of his current situation and is gaining more because of it. All of this boils into shaping his mental state, which I find fascinating to watch. The rest of the characters are just there for now in all honesty outside of Misato. I don't know how old she is, but she acts like a teenager and this aspect isn't helped by the fact that her voice actor makes her sound like one as well. Ritsuko is a pretty alright character, as is Rei, Shinji's dad, and the two boys from school. The EVAs are very nice looking which I've always though (Unit 00 is my favorite so far). The Angels are pretty weird looking (a pyramid? really?). The music is very nice too. That opening theme is just perfect to me and the ending theme isn't too bad as well. I do find it hard to focus on the subtitles and learn the lyrics though due to how much shit is flashing on screen during the chorus. The only thing I don't get so far is why they HAVE to use 14 year olds. I'm hoping that gets some explanation because if it doesn't, I'm just going to be in a constant WTF state. As a whole Evangelion is pretty interesting so far. I already planned on watching every episode and after seeing the first five I would like to see that through, if anything just to see how Shinji evolves as a character.

Nobunaga The Fool 23:
So we're moving into the final episode, and the pace is picking up again. Quite honestly, this is probably the best episode of the Fool so far. Lots of action, and I actually cried a little when Himiko died I mean, I know it's something that's been a long time coming now, but damn…does it tug at your heart strings a little. Soooo yeah…looks like I might need a new anime to watch on a weekly basis once this ends... |

But still, it was nice seeing real action again and my only hope for the finale is that we have more of that and it's not just all talk.
