Saw these guys pop up on BBTS- says nearly 30 points of articulation, and priced significantly less than Monsterarts (plus there is Godzilla 1984!)
Anybody know more about these? |

Yeah, NECA is now doing Godzilla figures in 6inch scale for the new movie. They are priced less than MonsterArts because they are of a lesser quality. Of course, they are also higher quality than the Bandai Creation vinyls.
Oh, and supposedly they have bendy wire tails. Last edited by Dr Kain; 02-18-2014 at 04:52 PM.. |

Lesser quality how? I mean, I'm expecting less joints, lighter plastic, etc. but I've never bought anything by NECA before; is their stuff really fragile or something?

Some of it most certainly is. NECA toys can be hit or miss, with certain lines demonstrating more quality than others and with a sense of joint design that's behind that of longer running companies like Hasbro or even Mattel (sometimes).
It doesn't mean these are doomed to be trash, but a wait-and-see approach is certainly prudent for these.

Interested to see how these turn out. It may be premature but it feels to me like these will be to SHMA what Marvel Legends/Star Wars Black is to SHF in that it's still a collector's line but aimed at a different collector audience. If that makes any sense

Eh, I put down a preorder on 1984 Godzilla. If it turns out to be crap, I'll only be out about $20.

Typically NECA is okay stuff They focuse on good sculpts, use a lot of heavy materials, and generally produce near-collector quality items at retail price. they're not Monsterarts, but they shouldn't look totally shit next to them.
Their Pacific Rim figs, though... |

I have a sizable MonsterArt Collection, so '94 is an easy pass.
But if '84 looks decent i'll pick him up.
