I don't know how mod podge works, but considering people here have had success sealing SO-DO stickers with nail polish top coat (I don't think that's the right word for that, but you get the idea), I think you'll be okay.

Thanks! I'll try it on a minor stickered part to see how it goes first, and if it doesn't I'll but the nail polish. I already see crinkles at the top of the Saber belt stickers from form changing and I don't want the same thing to happen to them as Vulcan's belt.

Clear nail polish is the way to do it. The rapid/quick drying ones work extremely well. Mod podge doesn't even compare, and it's more expensive, to boot. Clear nail polish also really makes the stickers and details pop. Looks gorgeous.
I should really post pictures of my success sometime. You can't even tell that there are stickers anymore and the best part is they don't feel like stickers either. The fact this works so well is the only reason I collect SO-DO, to be honest. The problem with mod podge(aside from being more expensive) is that it doesn't really seal the edges of stickers very well. There's always going to be the risk of you scraping a fingernail or something against the edge of a sticker, wearing it down over time. Clear nail polish creates a complete barrier around the sticker, annihilating any chance of that ever happening. Last edited by Chasing; 11-10-2020 at 08:20 PM.. |

SHODO-X Kabuto, Hyper Kabuto, Kick Hopper, and Punch Hopper came in today. Holy fuck, they actually feel and look incredible. They do indeed feel a little weird compared to SO-DO, but I think I can get used to it. My expectations were very low since each figure was only around 5 bucks. It's also really nice that for once, I don't have to apply stickers and then smuther nail polish all over them lol I usually spend quite a bit of time doing that whenever my SO-DO stuff comes in.
Kabuto was my gateway into this franchise, so my mind is absolutely blown right now. I...absolutely have to get more. I would honestly be willing to drop SO-DO if SHODO figures were more readily available. I really hope these figures actually are durable and last. The shoulder pads are going to take me some time to get used to, but I do find it really cool that they're show-accurate. Since I may be getting into the older SHODO releases, should I be wary of anything? Did any of the older releases have quality control issues at all, or anything of the sort? Honestly, though, I really enjoy the stickering aspects of SO-DO? It's nice to have these tiny mans at the end of the process, but I actually enjoy the process as well?

I imagine they'll complete Kabuto's lineup, too -- you don't just release a worm and not put out the remaining four riders!

Oh, and I forgot to mention before, but I absolutely LOVE the pull-down hips on SHODO. This is the one thing SO-DO figures are severely lacking. I really hate that Zero-Two can't move his legs much at all. Last edited by Chasing; 11-12-2020 at 07:22 PM.. |

I think if SHODO-X had the compound eyes, they would be the only figures I ever collect. They are very impressive on a technical level and I prefer the softer plastic over SODO plastic.
What are they at now? 11/20 of the Heisei riders?
