The first part of the series is relatively straight forward. Kishiryuu is literally just "Knight Dragon". Ryuusouger is a little trickier. Ryuu mostly likely means dragon here, but the "sou" part could be a couple of different things. It could be "sou" as in monk/priest or it could be "sou" from busou, meaning arms or armament.
Kishiryu literally means knight dragon so I think we can look forward to western dragons and knights for sure. The Ryusou part is in katakana so pure speculation on my part, but the sou is most likely armament or equip like what Aoi said. Ehh, Mostly not likely. Maybe the tsuika/bangai could be a non-dragon motif but the core roster would most likely be dragon-related so I will pass on fairy, griffin, unicorns kinda like how the core three Gekirangers were all kitty cats. I could see them doing dragon, sea serpent, wyvern, hydra, and wurms and stuff if they decide to go more specific variants of western dragons. Personally I would like to see the tsuika/bangai senshi be a asian dragon for a change and a Chinese soldier at that, kinda like a sentai hero version of Dairenoh.

For a Medieval Super Sentai theme that I wrote many years, I had a 6th ranger coming from the Underworld and can control the dead. He can also absorb souls of monsters after he defeats them similar to Kamen Rider Beast. He starts off as bad and becomes good over time. I always thought it would be cool to see in a Sentai season.

Cool! Sounds fun.
I've been binge watching Gate lately, so this sounds awesome. Seems like the perfect year to do a Game Of Thrones send off sentai too. So we will likely get a Zombie Dragon style one, or skeleton Dragon. Last edited by Librarian; 10-08-2018 at 07:35 PM.. |

That too. Dragons play well with kids and there are a lot.

But it seems plausible that they want to do a Hydra mech, and lots of others they haven't done yet. Though it could be a throwback to back during Magi/Mystic Force when Bandai of America made all those ranger figures that turned into Dragons too. Seems interesting for the timing though when you look at the mythology/lore surrounding Japan itself and the Hydra. Wonder if that contributed to this decision. Has kind of a "The Three Treasures" vibe a little bit when you think about it. And tbh, they've also never done an Isekai ranger either. Magi was close but not really. So I expect it'll probably blend those aspects. So we get a mix of Arthurian Legends, The Three Treasures, and some other world-wide dragon lore. Last edited by Librarian; 10-08-2018 at 08:26 PM.. |

With my FE Fates/ LVP crossover still in the workshop and I'm already thinking of an Awakening crossover fanfic.

Gonna disagree with you on that, cause the way Japan pronounces soldier is "sorujyaa". The suffix is definitely "-ger" in this case and we had the "-ger" suffix since Boukenger. So essentially it is "ryusou + ger", ryusou most likely meaning something in the line of draconic equip/armament like Aoi and I pointed out previously, and which leads to two other speculations; if naming schemes from past sentais are any indication code names will probably be something in the lines of "Ryusou [insert color]" such as Ryusou Red, etc. unless they pull a Zyuohger and go "Ryusou [insert subspecies of dragon]" such as Ryusou Dragon/Wyvern, etc. Another speculation I can think of is that the word "ryusou" will be the phrase for when they transform. And with all this in mind I bet Ryusouger can be written as 竜装者 in kanji.

Though it could still be one lead Knight of a Dragon, with subordinates that are using equipment from that. So we could still see a mix of mecha and types, but a full dragon team sounds fun too. Is likely still going to have potential Orochi references in it. With the whole concept of "Dragon equipment" would seem like good timing to reference the Orochi and Dragon sword from that legend. So a Hydra/Orochi hybrid does seem really likely. Mixing that with the timing of the new era transition and how this is the first new series of the new era, that seems even more likely. "Celebrating tomorrow by remembering the legends of yesterday." Which fits with the wider dragon references too if they are going to mix in some other lore style dragons and designs for wider "Dragon Knights" of coverage and different forms of Knight Royalty legends that have dragons. So I do concur that wider creature mythology references isn't likely in the main team. They seem pretty solidly built around dragons or built around a lead Knight of the Dragon. What also comes to mind is the "Armor Girs: Gore Magala" and the Tamashi Monster Hunter mecha dragon. But again, I've been watching a lot of Gate lately, so Rory the Reaper type character with the Gore Magala girl extra arm and leg armor and her battle axe and one with the twin swords is what really stands out as a "I want to see."
