Calvin (PRSNSTL Yellow Ranger) is jealous that Hayley (PRSNSTL White Ranger) and Preston (PRSNSTL Blue Ranger) are spending so much time together. While practicing their Romeo & Juliet lines, Hayley and Preston are ambushed by a monster before Calvin and Sarah can warn them.
Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel airs 12pm EST, 10am PST on Nickelodeon each Saturday.

My attention span was moderate at the time, but I saw no reason to overly criticize nor much reason to give it more than it deserves. It sets the stage for what is to follow, which if you know Ninninger, then you know what I'm implying. The Galactic Ninjas had a respectable introduction, and while the standard episode moral was basic, it feels more real cause many adults make the same mistake. Wolvermean wasn't the best of the worst, but he is the first to survive the Team's ultimate combination, which will give him some added depth. Odious takes his separated item, which goes back to the Ninninger thing. Not bad or overly exceptional!
P.S.: The school play of "Romeo and Juliet" had them say "death", which is a rarity for PR episodes! |

I do remember a Ninja Storm episode where they tried to save their master from the Thunder Rangers and encountered the spirits of old ninjas, with Tori exclaiming that they're already dead on about fighting them.

It's Saban and how you "play it safe"! Notice they don't even use "kill" or "killed" or "dead" or "die" frequently! Every so often, something gets dropped or slipped, but it's usually a careful reference. Even in instances (flashbacks or spirits who remain) where human characters have lost, they count themselves as "destroyed"! Ryan from Lightspeed was described as "killed", but "destroyed" was for humans who were murdered or presumed murdered from Time Force through Ninja Storm! Tommy did say he thought Mercer was "dead" in D.T. Ransik thought Wes was Alex, and said that he would "destroy you again"! Jen did refer to his presumed demise as a "death", and Alex told Wes that Collins would "die tomorrow" (before he intervened)! Careful references!

Okay, so my thoughts.
-Well not like I've ever seen this plot before. Sheesh Calvin your girlfriend is in the Drama club, how do you not know what play they are putting on? Some boyfriend you are. -Hey evil ninjas. Not evil ranger ninjas though... Ah shoot you guys are going to do it one at a time? Well I see that's something space Ninja school didn't teach you. -I know it's supposed to be part of the armor, but that monster looks like he has nipple rings to me. -Honestly I can't see that much of a difference between when Victor is supposed to be overacting and when he isn't. -Oh hey Victor and Monty are stuck in a crate! With no food and water they'll starve to death! This is great! -And there goes a large part of the teams memories. -Once again Mick does a great job being the mentor. -Hah fell for one of the oldest ninja tricks in the book. -I do like when Wolvermean is using the classic ninja tricks. -And hey he took the Ultrazord's attack and lived. Too bad Odious is going to be a bitch and keep his medal thingy. -And sadly Victor and Monty survived... Wait they are stranded in the African Savannah surrounded by lions! There's still hope! I've been watching Sentai with a friend and I've been wondering why I've been liking it so much more than PR recently. Is it because I'm just not liking the American stuff? But then I went back to watching Lost Galaxy, and I like that just as much as the Sentai. So maybe it's the kids com stuff we've got stuffed in that bothers me. |
