Yeah it's strange to me, because at least from a comics standpoint, hero deconstruction seems like it peaked with Watchmen (the graphic novel)... and then we hit a new low with Joker (2019 film).
Even something as seemingly innocuous as Incredibles 2 has now normalized the deconstruction. I think the last "super hero" super hero movie in the west that captured the gleam was Big Hero 6; though I also admit to having checked-out to hollywood cinema in recent years.

I upgraded Lord Of The Rings Trilogy for the extra footage on DVD. Also bought Game Of Thrones III and IV on DVD. (8 Series have been made and are out on DVD.) In September I may get the back 4 sets for Game Of Thrones. I'll see if EBay has Series V - Series VIII.

You have other movies that can help in believing in humanity again. I'm sick of superhero movies as well because they are have grown stale in my opinion. I only watch a new superhero movie if it is a character that I really enjoy.

What do I want from a film, I definitely like super heroes, *gestures at the toku they watch* but also I like just general fun films. Stuff like John Wick despite having a veneer of cynicism also have an inspiring tone to them. Maybe we need high concept action films like the matrix, or that just encourage people to band together?
I don't know, I need to watch more films to come to a proper conclusion.

This is why the Fast & Furious franchise is so popular. It's just pure unadulterated escapism.
I miss Jackie Chan era martial arts movies. He and his gang really codified on-screen martial arts. The Matrix was great, and it's not it's fault, but ever since it came out, movies have been obsessed with the slow-motion action scene. Movies have to earn the slo-mo! One of the things I love about Toku is that it does not do the ridiculous cutting and editing in fight scenes like Hollywood blockbusters. It's honestly dizzying for me. Toku does it for sure, especially as a needs for special effects, but in general, the fight choreography has flow, rhythm, and cadence. We are just now seeing a resurgence of "stunt-people directed action scenes" in the west while Asia has been doing it for decades if not longer. Oh boy I could talk about Toku for days....

I have been watching some movies. Spidy is the only Marvel series I want to finish right now.
As much as people hated Star Wars Episode IX The Rise Of Skywalker they closed it up the right way. Like Anakin before him Ben got redemption in the end and ended up saving Rey before she defeated Palpatine. I felt Star Wars was closed up right.

The MCU movies are all flash and no substance to me. I used to like them, but I have grown so tired of them. I feel like that I'm chewing on rubber when watching them. I do enjoy mindless escapism movies like the Friday 13th movies, Commando or Death Wish 3, but I take them over the MCU because I still have my own preferences with movies. I even take most Toku henshin heroes shows and movies over the MCU and Disney Star Wars because those have practical effects giving them hose authentic. The special effects in most big-budget movies bored because nothing about them feels cool or special to me.
I respect the time and effort put into them though. I do miss when Hollywood had more verity with movies like they used too. It's now mostly Superhero films, Star Wars, Transformers, Jurassic Park, Fast & Furious, Disney movies, and bad romantic comedies.

Does anybody remember Chick Tracts? Those little evangelical comic strips? I just woke up a while ago from this weird dream involving them.
I was in a library and I found some paper pamphlets resembling Chick Tracts but instead of them being about God or hell or something religious, they were all about Jojo's Bizzare Adventures. |

I'm surprised that Universal has not crossover F&F with Jurassic Park and call it "Jurassic Furious". It will take the "Must Go Faster!" line to a brand new level :P.
