I couldn't agree more, when Ninninger was good, it was really good. And when it wasn't, it was a little all over the place. But like you were hinting at, I think that was the idea. This is true of the visuals as well. From an aesthetic standpoint, the mechs were all over the map and had no real through line. I think the whole point of Ninninger was to challenge what has come before and find a way that works for you. Pretty well thought out if this is the case. Either that, or I am reaching for something that is not there.
For the record, I enjoyed every episode of the series. It just didn't do much in the grand scheme of things.

It was...alright I guess. Certainly didn't have the kind of energy I'd expect from a finale. The Gengetsu fight just played out like a normal MOTW mecha fight and Kyuemon's redemption, while not completely unexpected, certainly didn't have the kind of foreshadowing it deserved. It was just a "oh hey he's not so bad after all" moment and then he was practically good.
Ninninger was a series full of huge potential and interesting dynamics, and it wasted every single one of them. Despite some highs they were very few in a sea of lows, and has consistently felt pretty underwhelming from start to finish.

I think Ninninger to me is the definition of a lot of style and no substance. For example I really liked all of the weapons and the idea of having a mecha sitting inside another mecha strange but different and cool. Although As I look at the thing as a whole I don't see much there besides that. Sure there where times when the story felt like it was getting their, but either do to bad planning or bad writing never quite reached its potential.
I think watching this show weekly helped but I could not see any one beige watching the series.I feel if you were to watch ever episode back to back the issue with the story and pacing would become much worse. |

This series was not that bad. I enjoyed it. I'll admit I'm going to miss it. I like how they're setting up for the Ninnin Boys vs Girls movie with the MidoNinger shuriken and having a meet up in 2 years.

There was so much interesting setup in the middle of the show, with threads (like the various competing ninja schools, the ninja governing body, Kinji's yokai-ism, the Ninningers absent parents, etc) that were just begging to be followed up on... and they just vanished. It almost feels like there was originally a different plan for this show that was aborted at the last minute. Maybe there was some Bandai-related interference due to Ninninger's historically bad toy sales? I guarantee there will be some interesting conspiracy theories about producer interference that pop up around this series in the near future... |

I haven't actually watched ninninger yet, so I don't really have an opinion of it, but from what I'm getting from this thread, it seems like it suffers from reverse Kobaysashi syndrome, because there's a lot of plot stuff in the middle but the beginning is sort of so-so, while the ending seems to ignore a lot of the already established plot.

On a different note, Over-time STILL hasn't posted a DDL for this episode. Does anybody have one they could share with me? Or at least a stream?

Over-time don't post DDLs themselves. It's down to the people who comment on their posts whether they want to share one or not.

Still, the main idea behind that still stands: I can't find anywhere to either stream or DDL the episode

Hoooo boy, where to begin...
For the record, since it's no surprise that I hate this series, I started out liking Ninninger fairly well. After the Lion Ha-Oh arc, though, that's when things got really stagnant really fast. Every interesting aspect just wasted. This finale was AMAZING in how rushed it felt. It single-handedly destroyed Kyuuemon's established character. The whole reason he was acting the way he was was because he resented the last ninja for supposedly using him as a stepping stone for Tsumuji? Where the hell did that come from?! Kyuuemon hated Tsumuji yeah, but that little fact was never specified at all as far as I remember. And on top of that, suddenly Kyuuemon's not so bad cause he ADMIRED HIM? He killed your grandfather, stole your dad's nintality, tempted your friend to the yokai side - TWICE - and showed little to no mercy to you people whatsoever, but now he's cool cause you're all similar? I'm sorry, that's a huge load of BS. Gengetsu was absolutely WASTED after the display of power he showed the two episodes prior. People say the final battle in Gokaiger was weak? At least in that they literally had to throw everything they had at the final boss. Here, it's another damn MotW scenario. Terrible. Everything after was typical. The one thing I will ask is where the fuck Lion Ha-Oh or that kid that fixes the Otomonin were? They're important characters, right? So why are they not used? At all? Anywhere? I'm so happy this show is finally over. Bring me Zyuohger so I can be excited about Sentai for the next year and forget about how I wasted this one.
