Nah they do the second bit of material all the time in Rider shows, never been a problem there. I still think with Max's body type, he could have used a smaller helmet, his head looked hilariously huge.
And I dunno how else to describe it? With whatever the material of the suit is, if they want to move their body forward, or their legs up or whatever else the suit folds in exactly the same way fat rolls do.

It's probably not that hard to do, but the fin and zip has become ingrained into the series as Aoi Kurenai said. To put it into perspective, there's actually a book out that is mostly pictures of the backsides of various Ultras and monsters. I'm not too familiar with how Kamen Rider suits are worn, but I always kind of assumed they were put on in layers. Ultraman suits usually look like some kind of weird chrysalis. And...yeah, that happens a lot. I think it's supposed to simulate the consistency of skin and all that entails. I guess I now know why most recent Ultramen have sculpted abs. |

This looks like a cool wee "spin-off" kind of thing, not 100% sure what it is, but, i think it is a manga and a figure to go with it.
Looks like Ultra"Iron"man to me. |

But in the engineering and execution it actually looks even more unnatural than any sentai or rider armour which IS supposed to look like a suit.

What you're saying though is my entire point. CONCEPTUALLY it's supposed to represent living tissue, cocooning around the user. It isn't supposed to look like armour...and that is an awesome concept.

Japan know what they're doing, but I do find that often toku plays it safer than I'd like. Look at sentai robos...

As for sentai, it would probably be more daring to have less pieces that don't match the team colors. |

I dunno man maybe it's because I've seen like ten episodes of Ultraman in my entire life, across like five different shows but it just really struck me how samey everyone looks. Hell even the plot in all those shows was practically exactly the same.

Don't get me wrong, plots aren't the devil. They just aren't the main appeal. At least not fot me. |

I watch Ultraman for more or less the same reason I watch classic Doctor Who. More focus on the individual stories and less on overarching plots, many of which are bizarre and near hallucinogenic.
