That all makes sense, though Sentai classes Rio and Mele as Other rather than extra.

Eh. Oh well. That was just my classification. Part of me didn't really even know whether to classify them as extra or other. I just went off what I saw from clips and read.

I count Gosei Knight as a sixth, he was the sixth member of the team, had his own mech and gattai, and his introduction and loner mentality fits the mold of a sixth.

GoseiKnight is canonically a 6th, but it would be no problem to classify him as an Extra or even Other because he is SO different from the main team. He is even presented alone on many occasions, while usually, the sixth rangers are closer to their team.

No, not really. A sixth ranger is the SIXTH member of the team. So cases of AbareKiller being considered a sixth are BS to me. As for some of the other characters there, it's hard to decide. Part of me thinks that because of Power Rangers that maybe they just decided to throw them in. But then again Gai did sort of need the extra keys to use. So I'll say probably no, but I understand why.

Risking starting this argument again, in my mind Gosei Knight is an Other. Not a sixth. To me a Sixth has to physically transform.

I never understood why AbareKiller was considered 6th when he was ultimately a 5th. Yet GekiChopper was in the same position but considered a part of the core 5. It makes no sense.

I agree that Abare Killer should not be a sixth. His morpher is the same as the rest of the core team, but him having a shield sets him apart. Maybe because he was evil for so much of the show (like how Dragon Ranger started as being evil before turning good)
