I haven't like most episodes, but this one I thought was good, but still not great yet.
Mei is a prettier Akiko and I'm glad that she's getting less airtime lately. I was getting tired of seeing her with her mouth wide open throughout the whole episode. I also don't like the closeup of Touma's angry, but determined face that he seems to show in every episode. Not having to endure the long cgi henshin sequences for every character gets an A for me. The fight scenes were better this episode imho. I didn't care for the short fight scenes that ends quickly with a massive cgi finisher move. |

Then there's just straight up dumb stuff that distracted my so much - Ogami cancels his transformation why exactly? You don’t have any other means to shield Saber? No fancy book, anything? It felt very obligatory, the show wanted to make this happen without caring to make it logical. |

I noticed the quick transformation sequences with Kenzan and Calibur and it's a lot better than the drawn out stock footage stuff. And the fight scenes were quite good this episode - shame it had to end with the dumb robot King Arthur. I see. Buster running a short distance while still transformed threw me off. Usually the "knocking out"-deal happens instantaneously. |

If Calibur really is the former Saber (of which he most obviously is at this point) then he's practically Kamen Rider Saber Alter lol.

Now that I'm finally caught up I can give some quick thoughts on this episode:
- First off, just how strong IS Sora? Because he was able to just casually hold Buster's sword like it was nothing and NO ONE acknowledges it lol. - I think what's really making this show stand out from Sentai is how they're utilizing the characters. Even though we have 5 (soon to be 6) Riders that all seem to get along with each other, which basically never happens, we still really haven't seen all 5 Riders team up for one battle yet, at least not as a cohesive unit. Instead, the show has been mostly delegating smaller groups of characters to different tasks simultaneously, and I really enjoy that. Each Rider has a fairly unique bond with each of the other Riders, and I love how that was actually a factor in Touma's strategy with Kenzan and Espada. By the way, I love Touma approaching the battle tactically using both his knowledge of the story and his understanding of his allies' skillsets. I really hope we see more of that, and it seems like they're setting him up to be the de facto leader of the group. As for what I'm not liking....I really don't like Mei so far. She's one of those comedic relief characters that seems to do nothing but scream her lines at all times and basically act like a cartoon character and...yeah, that doesn't work for me. I like comedy relief characters when the comedy comes from their unique quirks...like Gentoku, the guy who manages to look completely ridiculous, yet is so unaware of how ridiculous he looks, that he plays it totally straight-faced. Or Dan Kuroto, where the comedy comes from the fact that he's a psychotic evil genius with a God Complex that just so happens to be on the good guy's side purely for petty reasons. I don't like characters just shouting their lines, and I especially don't like it when they don't even add to the plot. I will say Saber as a whole is already a lot better than Ghost for the simple fact that the main character doesn't feel like a stock Shonen character, and the rest of the main cast has an actual personality (and they're mostly likable). Speaking of which, I stand firmly by the fact that Rintaro is best boy.

Mei is good eye candy and I'm enjoying what I'm seeing.
That's all I'll say about that character. |

In some earlier eps of KR Saber, I noticed that Saber's actor seemed to have a lot of thick makeup around his jaw. In his earlier series, he had some acne scars along his jaw that might have been needed to be covered up.

I am now wondering if I should just for a change give up Saber, at least for a while. It takes a lot for me to actually give up a show, but increasingly the 2009 onwards type Kamen Rider shows can sometimes seem like quite a big commitment. Admittedly it's only real 'crime' is being boring and I did technically sit through all of Wizard but it's just I could watch something I want to watch more with that time and it's not great sitting down for an episode only to be greeted by that guy I hate the most!
