They could do it, you know. An american produced Power Ranger season, totally original storyline, and characters. You'd save money on locations, stunts, you could keep characters for more then one season because they don't age less you want them to. The zord battles would just be epic. You just need the right animation house. Whoever does the new Voltron Force show? That would be an example of the wrong animation house. Plus, you'd save a butt-ton of money on monster costumes. The morphing scenes could be whatever you wanted. And you could do the same thing with Kamen Rider if you wanted.

If I recall correctly, it was Toei who was vehemently against the idea. Animation would mean little to no reliance on Super Sentai material, and this would be bad news for Toei, who owns Power Rangers as well. Their claim on Power Rangers would be noticeably weaker... unless they can strike up a Hasbro/Takara style relationship, or if Saban negotiates to fully own Power Rangers. At least, that's my guess.

I think at the most i'd like something like a one time OVA. A full animated series would feel strange to have. Part of the charm is it being live action.

I feel like Power Rangers would lose all of its awesomeness if it were animated. Being live action makes it what it is, poor special effects included

I think I'd rather see a Super Sentai anime based off the original manga, like Kikaider did same years back.
Eitherway, if the US did an animated PR show, I figure it would look as good as the current Voltron series...and by that I mean crap. They'd have to prove that it's a good idea first and that means good animation and something that can't easily be done in live action. |

Making PR or sentai animated would IMO ruin the concept of toku.

Nah.
Aesthetically speaking, I hate anime character design (Though mechs would be absolutely gorgeous). |
