A few months back, I dug out my Super Legends Power Rangers from a plastic bin where they had been stored for 2 years or more. It dawned on me, aside from Saba being too short(I have the Green and White Ranger figures); they're not that bad! In fact I was surprised at how good they looked, especially in light of recent figures.
Not too muscular, proportions are good, paint work is good, tight joints, et al. Bicep swivels would've been nice since there's also thigh swivels. In short, I prefer these figures over the current BOA 5" Power Ranger line. That line has less articulation(not much less) and bulked up sculpts. One day I might try to track down the Super Legends 5.5" figures that I missed(or the figures from other ranger lines that are the same scale and style). Do you prefer the way Ranger figures are now, or do you want Bandai to go back to Super Legends 5.5" style? Discuss!

I would much rather go back to the figurarts scale 5.5" but only if they had more articulation.
These days I can just save my 10-20 bucks on over steroided kids toy wher I can get a fanstasic quailty figurart with amazing articulation or a gimmick line figure that is heads and shoulders better than the shite we get in america. I think they were on the right track with Jungle fury and the super legends but they just need to go a bit further before I bite again. I dont know if ill get any of these new dino charge toys, I owns the minpla and im gona try to track down the figuarts (bluefin fingers crossed). Ps. Nice to meet you. |

The size doesn't matter. What I'd like is better quality, better paint. Gi-Joe manages better posibility and more detail in a smaller 3 1/4 inch figure than Bandai can seem to manage with one two inches taller. I'd forgive it though. I'd forgive all of it if just once the figures didn't look like walking advertisements for PEDs. The time of super bulky, overly muscled, figures is over. That went out with He-Man and the original Thundercat line.

I actually like the current 5-inch line we have, aside from a couple. Super legends was a great mold though I can agree, that being said I'm completely fine with what we have now, would just prefer some more detail. Honestly it may just be nostalgia but I sorta like the "no paint" weapons. It's hard to explain they have their own charm for me, kinda like the old Zoid, Gundam models Etc I built as a kid that came with the unpainted pilots that were mostly just gray plastic. If I need a really detailed fix, or close representation to what I see in the show there is always the Figuarts line.

5.5 inches but they need to include bicep, waist, and ankle articulation. This is 2014, soon to be 2015, not 1995. Oh yeah, and they need to actually make the weapons scaled properly and not giant bricks.

I'd like them to return to the SL style. Looks and plays good, fits in well with FiguArts, and generally an accurate representation of the characters. I have a SL White Ranger standing in for the Figuart and, apart from the more obvious joints, he fits in great with my SHF Pink Ranger.
You do realized that G.I. Joe is currently dead in the water, right? I mean the point still stands, but you're comparing a line that's mostly dead to one that... still manages to keep going on.

Good question!
I realize we're all on the same page, but I figured I'd throw up a pic for a point of reference. I can't deny that the SL versions are better proportioned and sport more detail. They're not as nice as hand-candy, though, except the Green Ranger. Both the White and Gold Rangers have classically removable clamshell armor, which means the armor flys right off when you move the arms up. Doesn't matter for display, but when my nephew is over and the Power Ranger toys are out, we usually ignore the toys with stuff that falls off every other movement. Needless to say: I tend to gravitate more toward toys that are playable. So, while I'm not totally on board with the new one's BEEF factor, I love the playability. I bought the Green Ranger first and it had totally killed the mood for me, at the time. I wasn't going to buy any others. Then I got the red Zeo Ranger and fell right into this line. I think the Green Ranger is the only one that suffers, somehow. His head looks too small, and the armor is a bit too big. Otherwise, I friggin' love every other figure I've gotten so far. Sooo...while I enjoy the SL ones visually, I'd really rather they didn't go back, now that I'm invested in this scale and the amount of characters they've done. They would have to re-kick this line into gear in that new scale with some improved features to catch my attention - and I mean recreating everything they've already done so far - which is a little ridiculous. So, in short, I'm happy with what they're doing now.

The old Super Legends figures actually fits in with Figuarts pretty well.

I prefer SL. The new ones are alright for what they are but they don't fit in with anything else I have in my collection and I don't find the line all that exciting. You'd pretty much have to collect them religiously to get a decent display going.
SL work pretty well with Figuarts from what I've seen.
