Yes, but some will say otherwise.
No Rider show has ever been objectively bad, ever. But someone out there will probably say Fourze is silly, so it sucks, which is different from "it's silly, so I don't like it." You should never judge something based on what you want it to be, because you'll just be extremely disappointed.

If anything, it's better than most Kamen Rider series to me.

It's just very very...average highschool anime/manga/j-drama. It's not bad, but there's not much originality about the show. The characters are also lacking...especially in that usually if the main rider isn't that good, the main side character draws you in. Kengo just isn't that interesting of a guy. Under critical analysis, the show is not a bad one, but both in practice and sadly in concept, it's not much. Hell, can't stand Decade but one or two of the concepts were original Ah well. Double and OOO were big shoes to fill. It was a bit much expecting a hat trick.

I think Fourze needs to reinvent itself here as it approaches it's middle-of-the-show mark. Gen can only play the role of "I'm such a n00b and I am EVERYONE'S friend!" before it gets really old and stale. The arrival of Ryu and Meteor is a nice addition, as you have someone basically relying on Gen's over-trustworthiness to dupe and trick him, but even then that's going to get old fast (as it's been done before).
Gen needs to develop from what he is in to the role of unlikely hero ... he's still in the "I'm an obnoxious twit with a Kamen Rider belt!" stage as opposed to "I will defeat all my enemies no matter the cost" stage. |
