I know that there are complains about the lack of female riders in the franchise but what there isn't a lack of are female characters who impact each Kamen Rider series. So I ask: who's your favorite?
Personally my favorites are: Sakurako Sawatari (Kuuga)- She was a solid support character for Godai and helped a lot in uncovering Kuuga's power. And except for that one time she was targeted by a Grongi, she wasn't a damsel in distress that Godai had to save all the time. Ra-Baruba-De (Kuuga)- She always had that mysterious aura around her as if she knew more than what she says. She didn't look it but she was clearly more dangerous than other Grongis. Shiori Hirose (Blade)- Like Sakurako she was a solid support character for Kenzaki. She may not have as much contributions to Blades power ups but she made her self useful in other ways. Plus she didn't complain a lot. Kiriko Shijima (Drive)- What I likes about Kiriko is that she was always ready. And I mean she was ready to fight if necessary. Though of course she is a trained police officer. Plus I liked her no nonsense persona. Nico Saiba (Ex-Aid)- What I liked most about Nico was that she was more a character that contributed in Taiga's development rather than Emu. And she even became a Kamen Rider.

Hina from OOO has always been a favourite of mine. And Mezool. And Satonaka. And Chiyoko-- basically I really like every character in OOO. Mezool like the other Greeed is painfully tragic and sympathetic, while the others bring that beautiful homey, optimistic vibe I'll always enjoy.
I'm also a big fan of Mayu Inamori; aka Kamen Rider Mage Amber. She still stands out as the best part of Wizard for me in her surprisingly great development that gives a good spin on the usually tired revenge plot. Decade's Natsumi I relate to in so many ways. She's got this great spunky yet tired energy to her and she's fed up with Tsukasa in a way that's wonderfully sibling rivalry-esque. And thank god she actually gets to be a Rider! That's always a plus, and it makes a lineup of Decade's main cast in Decade x W feel that much more complete. Having just finished Hibiki, I'm also gonna go ahead and add Ibuki's student Akira Amami to my list. At least, pre-retool; but that goes for anything good about Hibiki. Her own development aside, she still works very well with Hibiki's grounded, believable vibe while also being a great parallel to Asumu. I'm glad Decade done her justice. |
