Really ? Well, I don't regret Over-Time taking some time to release this then.

Masahiro Inoue directed ep. 9 ? Interesting...
Ep.10 : it's weird never knowing which Jinga is on screen, because he took bad decisions there, so is it because it's evil Jinga or him being stupid/under influence ?

Finished the season with ep 11 & 12. Damn you Garo, I was not really expecting that kind of ending, but I guess you can't pull the "giant naked woman" trope every time.
To answer my previous questions: so yes, it appears "good" Jinga get blinded by his powers and took himself for the messiah, even if he was manipulated I think he went for really shitty decision and had it coming. As he is more concerned by Toma than Fusa in the end, one can guess he voluntarily sacrificed Fusa for his delusion. Maybe Touma soul become the shining particle we see in the end, and was the only one "saved" spiritually speaking. Ironicaly it's evil Jinga that released him.

I'm kinda glad I fell behind on this show, since it allowed me to marathon the last few episodes instead of having to wait. Given the gut punch that we ended 11 with, it was nice to be able to go right into episode 12.
I've been wondering for a long time how this show was going to end. Was it going to be a redemption story for Jinga? A tragedy where he tries and fails to defeat his evil side? In any of the possible endings I'd thought of I did not consider this one. The whole final episode was basically a 24-minute extended "oh shit" sequence, with one bad plot twist following another. I have no idea what, if anything, will be done with Jinga's character after this, but if we never see him again this will be a powerful moment to end on. I really loved the final scene, with that one surviving priest gathering up the relics of all the fallen characters. I'm not sure what was up with that light at the end (part of me was expecting Ryuga to show up during that scene), but my confusion doesn't detract from the sad beauty of that moment. |

Didn't watch 10/11 and 12 on purpose to watch them all together since the clipshow was a disappointment.
I did now. I don't know what to feel about the show. I don't hate or dislike it. But there is no possibility to deny it was a veeeery weak show. Most people will enjoy Inoue's acting. but that's all. Writing. Directing. Budget. All of these were bad. Only the acting (and 90% of it is Masahiro Inoue) has to be praised. I wish the show tried more with the plot. I'm ok with Jinga becoming crazy because of his power, but it should not have been so sudden. It could have been made progressively. step by step. Jinga could have become obsessed with his power because it's the kind of power who could have saved his father, and that thought could have tortured him to the point of "I will never let this happen again" and go the dark route because of his obsession. Or when Priest Ugai appeared and seemed to make Jinga fight horrors a lot, I kinda thought he was doing it on purpose so that Jinga ends in his self loving "I'm the chosen one" state. But no. It would have been an interesting turns of event. Jinga changing should have been slower. What I don't like though, is this "I stab people with this Inga knife to make people into horror" plot point about Amili (and Jinga's father). Inga, horrors and gates opening was always something growing from humans themselves with negative thoughts. Now even a 100% pure guy can become a horror because of such a thing and horrors can basically be a zombie spread. Madou Horror was already something a bit similar in Yami o terasu mono but i think the people becoming forcibly madou horrors were still having a bit of darkness in their heart. Now about the gold sparkles, at least the story is left open for a sequel. There is no guarantee but who knows. Ultimate fanservice would be Touma survived and is this gold sparkle, and he comes back as the new GARO of this timeline to fight Evil Jinga. |

Very disappointing. I loved this show from episode 0 (kinda wished Jinga discovered the ability earlier so he can save that poor mother) but ever since that clip show, the show went downhill very quickly.
While Zero Dragon Blood is a perfect show to have 13 episodes over, this one feels like it needs the usual 25 so that it can help to develop Jinga's obsession with his power more. Him going crazy was to sudden. Budget is a huge problem this show had, even the episode 3 (technically 4th episode) which I loved, this is where the low budget starts to show, and Horrors being just makeups of their hosts are embarrassing. I hope there is a sequel since it's geared towards that, but I hope the budget is decent. At the very least they might make it a movie.
