I mean, yeah, Magiranger is pretty goddamn terrible de gozarimasu desu. But at his worst - and he was very, very intolerably awful - not even MagiGreen abandoned his duties as a superhero to bake a cake for some snot-nosed brat de gozarimasu desu.

Are you talking about the overall show or just MagiGreen cause you pretty much criticized MagiGreen than the overall show?

Oh, no I generally hated the entire show de gozarimasu desu. MagiGreen was just the most aggressively terrible part de gozarimasu desu. I always feel it's a pity that 2005, the year that brought us Hibiki, Garo, and Ultraman Max fell so flat on its face on the Sentai front de gozarimasu desu.

So. Okay, this has bewildered me from the moment I first saw it.
I understand not liking Noel. I'm not the biggest fan myself; he's kind of middling for me and I can certainly see why he'd slip into 'dislike' territory for a lot of fans, especially with Lupat's flaws in general. But I've never been sure on why exactly a lot of people actually think of him as one of if not THE worst Sentai character ever? I really want to make clear that this isn't something I'm upset over; or think you guys are wrong on; or that you shouldn't have that opinion or that it's a judgement or anything like that. Nor is it something I'm owed an explanation on of course, but I'm just so confused that at this point I'm dying to know why a character that I was sort of meh on inspires such hatred His constant toying with the Patrangers got aggravating after a certain point, especially him holding the "I'm not part of your division, so I don't have to tell you anything" card every time he gets any bit of useful information that might have the slightest chance of revealing anything about the Lupins. His connection with the Lupins making it obvious where the show was heading, and that they clearly wanted to make "Lupinranger" but at that point, they had already aired 15 episodes of LuPat, so they couldn't just remove the Patrangers. Him stringing along the Patrangers to achieve his own goals is just unethical for a so called officer. When the Pats have to actively hide missions from him to keep the Lupins from winning (And they ALWAYS wing), you know he's not really a member of the team. His obnoxious attitude. His constant smirking and mightier than thou attitude is bad, but him basically fucking over the Pat's jobs time and time again, then just buying some macaroons and going "Lol sorry" at the end of numerous episodes is aggravating. How he's treated. He lied to both teams (The Lupins to a lesser extent, but still), he constantly undermined the Pat's efforts, and used his authority to keep multiple vital secrets from the Pats. And how does everyone respond? With open arms and declarations that they still love and respect him. Despite this, he still continues to lie and screw with the Patrangers until the very end. Wrap all of that up, then add in the fact that he got the Super Patranger upgrade and a host of spotlight episodes, and he embodies everything that's wrong with LuPat. That they let marketing decide where the show went, rather than the writers. Sentai as a franchise is just a set of yearly toy adverts, I'm not dumb. But some shows manage to be pretty good. LuPat, though, was a show with potential that got destroyed by a team in suits going "Well, the charts say..." at every turn.

They just focus more on toy advertisements and just be lazy with the storytelling and it just become repetitive especially those mecha fights. When I was a little kid, I always look forward of watching mecha fights but as I got older, it doesn't excite me anymore and I just having a hard time of watching recent Super Sentai shows. This is one of reason why I more into Kamen Rider than Super Sentai. |

If you're gonna just attack me like that, can you at least just do it to my face and not in some passive agressive manner? Not the nicest thing to wake up to.

In retrospect, I probably shouldn't have posted that with so little context. It's just that a thread like this always reminds me how fascinating it is how people can see the same things in such wildly different ways. Although I'd be legitimately shocked to see someone say Kyuranger had the best villains of the decade.

That's why I lost my interest on Super Sentai.

Sorry! That wasn't actually meant to be any kind of personal attack or anything! I just had the dumb idea of swapping the series names around in that statement to see how much it still worked, and thought it was amusing because I'm kind of an idiot that way. It definitely wasn't meant to be criticism of you in particular!

I've only seen a few episodes of Zyuohger, Kyuranger, and Kyoryuger, and I enjoyed them.
What little I saw (roughly 3-7 episodes of each) was enough to make me, at least, want to re-torrent them. And I plan to. EDIT: And I don't think I've had a sentai I've hated. I've had some I can barely get into or got tired of, like Carranger and LuPat, but I don't specifically hate any show. |
