Yeah, i doubt there'll be a sequel to the last movie and a new brand movie is more likely to happen.

While I loved the movie's cast, I wouldn't mind a reboot, especially if they are adapting MMPR again maybe they could make the suits more faitful to the original.
But so far it seems Hasbro does care about Power Rangers. The fact that they say that the franchise is undervalued makes me like them because that's what PR franchise is.

If they actually continue from the first, I'd be all for that.
I wouldn't MIND a new series, but I actually dug the first and rather see it continue.

They've yet to reboot Transformers. Yet to reboot GI Joe. Jem actually needs a full reboot and they haven't done that yet. Even back on GI Joe, there are claims that the 3rd film is going to be a reboot, but we actively honestly don't know yet since it hasn't even started casting. (Referring to film, TV audiences are a different matter. On films, they rarely reboot.) So I'd say odds are higher they'd do a sequel. A movie from a series wouldn't capture audiences well enough and it'd likely be either too PG-13 for its intended series audience demographic or too PG if they did the wider material like Shattered Grid. So that's unlikely unless it's a dirt cheap indie film style. They'd want to lean blockbuster film of the summer though. So it's better to potentially lean on the established film universe for that and build off of it. Another reboot this close to the other cinematic would feel too much like the rapid fire spider-man reboots. And HCU inclusion is possible as is(minus transformers), but the HCU needs to go back to the drawing board anyway to re-do the pacing and develop a full vision to better build it. At which point, then maybe reboots across the board, but until then, it'd be kind of a waste to reboot a reboot of a reboot. Power Rangers doesn't exactly lend itself easily to HCU inclusion anyway. To visionaries, Rom, and Micronauts it does. But GI Joe, M.A.S.K. and Transformers not so much. A fully original concept is possible, but at that point, would it matter if it was called Power Rangers? So they'd have to do something mildly referential or recognizable, which then goes back to "why waste the conceptual art already done" on the budget to cut costs, and already have a positive established presence. Plus as a gesture of good faith to fans, it shows a fan adoration and willingness to try and bring the franchise into good standing with better developments from what's there. That they care about the franchise as it is but think it needs better TLC. Last edited by Librarian; 06-01-2018 at 01:41 PM.. |

Hasbro isn't exactly known for reboots. So it's possible. They tend to lean on the Disney/Star wars model.

I'am kind of thorn between wanting a Sequel or a reboot.
The cast from the Lionsgate movie had a great dynamic and where a great choice especially Becky G and Rj Cyler. on the other hand the suits and zords where beyond horrible. i would prefer modernized suit and zords that still held some resemblance to the original. the tyrannosaurus and pteradactyl zords where the only one's i got on board with. the others designs where off putting. triceratops was acceptable but the whole extra legs things was strange. If they where to make a sequel i'd prefer if the suits and zords changed a bit to resemble the originals. Even just the helmets. if they where to go the reboot route i'd hope they get a similar cast dynamic. But if neither, i'd love a shattered grid movieverse, like a movie similar to the teaser they used for the comics. it would be so dark and actually be quite similar to other Hasbro Movie's. Hasbro has a deal with paramount. They aren't going to screw with that to work with Lionsgate. Espically when they are planing a shared universe. It's going to be a reboot. Also why would Hasbro want to continue a movie that barely made 144 million.
