But in Zeo, Rocky was like ... third down the list. He went from "I AM A FILL IN LEADER" during MMPR to "I LIKE TO MAKE UNFUNNY JOKES AND GOOF OFF" in Zeo, as Adam became the second in command until Jason showed up and took over when Tommy went MIA.
As for Season 2 of Power Rangers (MMPR) ... I felt like the out-of-suit fighting got better, tons better, but I still think the best stories were at the very end of Season 1, aka "Zyu 2" as it's called. |

Season 2 was pretty damn awesome. I have lots of memories of taping the show every day and then watching it every night when I was working out. The acting definitely got better. At the time I did not like the three Power Transfer Rangers, but I think that was more of a "how dare they change the team" than anything else. Looking back on it now I like Adam and Aisha. Rocky is sort of nebulous in my mind but Tommy was the White Ranger so all was good in the world.
Some of my favorite episodes happen in season 2, including the whole "Green Ranger loses his powers for good" saga, The Mutiny, White Light, Return of the Green Ranger, and a personal favorite guilty pleasure The Wedding. I remember Fox had aired part 1 of The Mutiny in prime time and I watched it again and again while waiting for the second part. Then the second part was ALSO a cliffhanger and I thought I was going TO DIE waiting for that third part. For The Wedding, just for the actual wedding and then the big monster fight at the end I must have rewatched those three episodes a dozen times. Regarding Kat, she was season 3, not 2. And really, her romance with Tommy was sort of odd, because she spends a lot of time trying to get him interested in other girls, only to have that not work out. I never really bought them as a couple, honestly, but eh, it's alright. Another great aspect of season 2 was Bulk and Skull! Their quest to discover the Rangers' identities was a great change from their bully characters and really made them endearing. What's also amazing to me is just how many episodes worth of evil plans they got out of maybe a dozen stock shots of Lord Zedd in the palace!

The Zyu2 stories in both season 1 and 2 are for the most part really good. There's some really fun stories in there and some (to me) classic monsters -- because those Zyu2 monsters would get used over and over, and a lot of them were made into toys, they really made an impression with me. Soccadillo! Rhino Blaster! Jellyfish! Commander Crayfish! Dramole! Turban Shell! Stag Beetle! Oysterizer! Great monsters all around!

Season 2 started strong, Prime-time 3 part opener
Lord Zedd The Thunder Zords. The loss of the Green powers arc. Then the white Ranger showed up and everything went down hill. Suddenly Tommy wasn't interesting any more. And he got promoted to leader..... with Jason getting shafted. Then thier was the pay dispute that lead to the three cast members leaving. Zedd wedding which was a 3 parter of stock footage. Rocky.... who almost never filmed a single episode clean. it just went in circles againa and again after The White Ranger arrived. Season 3 was far better and ZEO ruled over that!

Eye Guy is pretty damn awesome! He didn't shoot lasers out of each eye but he did have the "chomping" eyeball beam which was pretty awesome too! He was also one of the very few Zyuranger Monsters to get a toy (besides Rita's henchmen of course), along with Pudgy Pig, Knasty Knight, Bones, Minotaur and King Sphinx. Compare this to Slippery Shark, Pete & Repete, Snizzard, Spidertron, Dramole, Grumble Bee, Peckster, Stag Beetle, Rhino Blaster, Pirantishead, Soccadillo, Goo Fish, Guitardo, Invenusable Flytrap, and Robogoat for the Zyu2 monsters.

Season 3 was good too, but Tommy becoming the leader and the demotion of Jason was not exactly a disappointment to me. Never liked Jason, so seeing him put down a notch was a "good thing" to me.
