Bay didn't ask fans to donate hundreds of dollars so he could make a movie just to make a name for himself by riding on nostalgia.
The comparison breaks down when you realize this. Bay was chosen to direct TF, the money came from Hasbro and the like, and Bay already had a name for himself long before. I don't want the MMPR project to fail. I really don't. I want OP to deliver a great and exciting movie. I just feel the director/producer's heart is in the wrong place. He's not doing this because he feels this is something that needs to be made or the world needs to see. He's just doing this because he wants to be famous.

This isn't Transformers or TFW2005.COM. You want to bitch about "Revenge of the Fallen" some more, go back to TFW2005.COM and bitch to your hearts content. But I'm not going to listen to someone justifying this fan-made MMPR film because they hated Michael Bay's Transformers. I mean, seriously, what?? And I love how 1 apple + 1 Apple = 2 apples can't be applied to Oranges because "Oranges aren't Apples! I mean, seriously. what??"

ahh. I see, I've long since noticed that this site does seem to be less an open forum and more some buddies who started watching Gokaiger. That may sound openly harsh. but when a MOD tells you to "shut up and go away" then clearly any semblance of the 'Professionalism" your role is supposed to convey has gone out the window.
And I love how 1 apple + 1 Apple = 2 apples can't be applied to Oranges because "Oranges aren't Apples! I mean, seriously. what??" It's not "unprofessional" at all to say what he said. This isn't a Transformers forum, so why would you complain about Transformers here when it's all been done before. And your fruit analogy goes out the window here, because the apple you're referring to was already a golden one when offered to do Transformers. The orange on the other hand is some no-name nobody who is begging for money to hopefully become a golden apple based on a nostalgia ride that isn't there. And yet, you avoid all these true, factual comments and instead have this temper tantrum and start insulting the owner and others on this site. Perhaps in the future, take the high road and instead discuss the issue at hand, though I've noticed that when you're wrong in these scenarios, you either continue ask why you're wrong, or you get upset because you are wrong. It's okay to be wrong. When facts are presented to you, especially with "apples and oranges" and you're explained how they don't compare by multiple people, take that perhaps, they're correct. Instead of, you know, insulting the staff and the board members. |

You dislike the fact that your idea of logic and fact has been called in to question and proven totally 100% wrong. Get over it. I'm not going to sit here and listen to someone make off-the-wall claims and correlations that do not line up at all in order to justify their "I AM ANGSTY GRR" feelings. You can like this thing, that's fine. You can not like this thing, that's fine. But your justification for disliking the fact I dislike it is Transformers Revenge of the Fallen. What the hell man? You're free to have your own opinion, it's a free God damn world. I will never tell someone they can't have their own opinion. But when you challenge MY opinion with "You don't like this and you're no better than people who like Transformers Revenge of the Fallen" ... what? Are you suffering from dimensia? I'm serious - how the hell did you equate my dislike of this film and the intent of the creators with that of Michael Bay and Revenge of the Fallen? I literally see NO correlation, I do not understand where that came from, and I was hoping you'd give me an explanation other than "this site sux". To each his own. You want to play kickball my friend then you need to kick the ball. Don't grab the ball because you didn't like the pitch and go home. That's weak. Dare I say ... "weaksauce" (to harken back to the 90's)

For a web site that is dedicated to kids shows and the toys based off of them. People sure are bitter. Can't we all just get along?

Oh right, I remember now. Sometimes I wish they would do a more mature take on MMPR for the movies. Just, whoever might direct it, can it not be whoever directed DB: Evolution? Last edited by Sentai; 05-29-2013 at 06:38 AM.. |

The first Ninja Turtles movie is a good movie to copy the tone from. It hit the perfect balance of silly , yet dark. Never once did it feel like it was making fun of itself. I don't want Nolan's Power Rangers. Just something that feels more like watching a Marvel movie.

I think the biggest problem with aiming for the whole Nolan thing is if you take a step back from the whole trilogy Nolan's take of Batman didn't work.
Batman is a 'dark and serious' character for sure but dark and serious means something different in comics than they do in any other medium and even at his most darkest, there is an inherent silliness surrounding Batman which is actually the reason he works. In a truly straight faced depiction of the world and the horrors that take place in it, a dude in a halloween costume with a magic tool belt would feel out of place but well...Nolan just stripped out all the silliness anyway creating a pretty bland, and fairly typical bunch of action thrillers that then had these random characters dotted around in goofy costumes that felt like they'd just stepped out of an entirely different film. If you watch Batman Begins, when Batman randomly appears in the last third or so of the film, it is pretty much literally like two completely different films stuck together. You need an ounce of escapism or the thing doesn't work as a cohesive whole, Superheroes are not real (okay there are real superheroes but have you seen how stupid they look? exactly) so stop trying to ground them in reality. The inherent escapist silliness of the comic book medium, even at its most gritty, is the reason that the genre has lasted as long as it has and has been able to adapt to changing times. And yes I am aware I am oversimplifying this but no one wants an 80, 000 book published on this by me. TL;DR I hate that Nolan has become the inspiration for so many writers and filmmakers when approaching the superhero genre...his approach doesn't. fucking. work.
