I haven't watched Hurricanger, but what about Furaimaru? He seemed pretty alive in Gokaiger...

Given Hurricaneger's relatively technological theme, I wouldn't be surprised if Fuuraimaru was just a really good robot.

So which was the first Power Rangers season to treat the zords as living beasts?
Was it Lost Galaxy?

Let me ask the group a question -- do you prefer "living" meka or regular piloted meka?
Personally, pretty much all of my favorites are the piloted type (Ohranger Robos, 99 Machines, GoGo Vehicles), but I have a soft spot for the meka from Jungle Fury (have not watched Gekiranger yet), which were non-piloted, and the very little I have seen of the meka from Go-onger had me cheering as well. What about you folks?

It's kind of a toss up for me. But if I absolutely had to choose, I'd probably say I preferred living mechs.
It just has a greater weight to it. Seeing an enemy monster start slashing and blasting them. With normal mechs, a week in the shop and they'll be good as new, but with living ones, you lose them and they're gone for good. It just feels like there's more to lose, so there's just more tension during series finales when mechs might end up destroyed. Feels like you lost a comrade, not just a tool.

Yes, although technically it was Daizyujin that was alive and the Guardian Beasts were just his consciousness split into separate bodies. Dragon Caesar and King Brachion were also separate beings, but their consciousness merged with Daizyujin's when they combined.
