I just finished up Zyuranger and absolutely loved it but one thing bothered me. The writers treatment of Burai. Is it just me or did it seem like they hated him? After his introduction arc they just treated him like a red haired step child. Why do I come to that conclusion you ask? The whole "he's got so much time to live" plot they threw on him. Using that they had an excuse to use him as little as possible. I think Bandai wanting to sell more merc made them add in a sixth hero and they didn't like it which was clear by doing what I mentioned above. Am I the only one who feels that way?

And didn't they kill him off, even though the survey they took wanted him to live?
I could be wrong about that, but if I'm nor, then it'd support your idea lol

Indeed your right. Right after they killed him there was an outcry of fan letters wanting to bring him back. But the writers said they wanted to show kids that even heroes die. Which is shit because the previous series did that and it was an even worse case scenario than this was!

Maybe Burai was just meant to die.

Anyways, just becuase a character is used sparingly doesn't mean the writer hated him. It only means that the writer is trying to write a story his/her way. By using Burai sparingly, it made him more interesting. I like the amount of screen time that Burai gets. I like that he dies and stays dead. It's far more rememberable that way. You nailed it on the head. Like Gai, I believe he was created with the intent to be killed off. Besides, GUIS is the better sub group anyways Last edited by Blade Raider; 01-03-2013 at 12:37 AM.. |

I'm curious how Sentai only watchers and people who work on Sentai view what we did with the Burai's footage, merging the Dairanger footage, and all.

They killed off Burai because he's too cool to live. Badass Rangers always dies in sentai, Gai (Black Condor), Burai, Time Fire and Abare Killer. Plus I read somewhere that Gai's actor Toshihide Wakamatsu wanted his character to die in the end and talked to the writers if they could do that.
