News has just reached us that actor and Japanese professional baseball player, Chikara Hashimoto, has passed away at age 83. He died from lung cancer on October 10th, those news of his death has only begun to circulate now.
Undoubtedly the one role most western fans will recognize this legend for is as the suit actor of the titular Daimajin character through out Daiei's Daimajin Trilogy. His performance as the great demon job is truly spectacular if you've never seen these films before. The news comes via Yahoo Japan News.

The Daimajin movies are great. I would recommended them to any Toku fan. Sad to hear that this happen.

The first one really is fantastic, a truly groundbreaking film. But I also found the sequels lackluster. The 2nd in particular was pretty hard to sit through. But Hashimoto's performance at least is fantastic in each film.
