I was actually pretty scared going into this trailer it seems as though that trailer could make or break everything and aside from the reveals we got it seems like a pretty iffy one. Also please tell me that the morpher toys warming the shelves at my wal-mart are a thing I'd rather see a morpher used than them stepping onto a pad

Seems like they'll only morph during the third act. I don't expect this movie to be great, but if it's better received than BvS, then it's a success on my book. Gotta say I'm slowly growing on the suits.

This trailer makes me appreciate some things that I didn't before. The suits look pretty good moving in a real space. Goldar too. Seeing the gold ooze and move along his body prove that the only reason the toy looks like a melted Gi-Joe is because BoA failed us again. Which brings us to the Megazord. The on-screen version puts the pathetically under-painted toys to absolute shame. Alpha I'm still not completely sold on but I believe in Hader. Zordon though. I used to like those needle toys in the 90's, where you'd put your hand in and see it on the other side? Just wondering why they went there and not time-tube. But overall this trailer did what trailers are meant to do. Made me extremely psyched to see this movie.

Even though it actually looks like the most visually horrible part of the movie, I really am looking forward to the fight scene there. At the very least it will have some just straight up fighting, and it looks like real, non-blurry fighting.
I think more than anything, though, the civilian powers are my number one issue. Just... What's the point? The MMPR team didn't have civilian powers, and these ones are so generic. It's just trying to be like Chronicle. Yes, but my point was actually just how both SS and PR had two tonally opposite trailers in response to criticisms over the first ones. |

I'm honestly surprised and a little confused by the mostly negative reactions this is getting.
It looks formulaic as hell and doesn't look like it particularly breaks any new ground or do anything particularly different from what is expected, but that's exactly it! What were people expecting? Its a Power Rangers movie, we're getting exactly the plot that we were always going to get; Rita awakens, tries to rule the world, five teens get together, get recruited by Zordon, save the world. There isn't anything here that is worth getting upset about here. Does it look like an awesome addition to cinema? God no- but it was never going to be. It looks like a fun, inoffensive movie with lots of action and comedy. At the very least it looks better and truer to its roots then the Transformers films! It reminds me a lot of the recent Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies, they're not great, they're not terrible, they're formulaic action movies for kids based on making toys with a few awkwardly placed adult jokes and nostalgic nods to get adults to buy the tickets too. I doubt it'll run very long either, I'm guessing not much over 90 minutes if over that at all, but I think that's OK. Plus it has Elizabeth Banks as the main villain, that's really better then what I could imagine them doing from the get go right there. |

The problem with this argument is that you could simply be spending your money elsewhere, as Beauty and the Beast comes out the same month. Not to mention the movie doesn't really seem to know which crowd it's trying to cater to sometimes. I'm still watching the movie as if it's going to crash and burn, I'm going to savour every moment of it, but if it's good, I'd have seen a good movie and helped a Toku-esque movie
EDIT: Oh yeah, new Alien that month too
