Now my copy is nowhere near as unstable as this one is (Max and FP Gridman can stand on their own fine and even be posed a bit without much issue) but yeah...outside of that all the issues you mentioned I shared. Hell my Gridman base figure's leg fell off. A day after I had it. It was fine before that. How does that even happen?
At this point, I'm gonna keep him as a display piece. He'll look fine with stuff like the SRC line. But if I knew it'd end up like this, I would have just gone for the Figma. Still plan to now, too. I have enough Figma releases to actually trust that one. |

Looks like Minipla it is then. Yeah, those too come with stickers, but the customization opportunity lends itself to design.
Don't know what it is, but I would feel more comfortable painting up a "model kit" as opposed to a premium collectable at a $150 price point. Even though Minipla aren't too far off in pricing. |

Now THAT I would welcome. Decent scale and complexity more befitting of the character. Super Minipla is great, but for the price I'd rather have something larger. Ultimately I don't think currently there is one good definitive option on the market for SSSS fans.

More like a side story... But still, you'd think this would be a no brainier. But, for some reason only God knows, Minipla is the more expensive line, and since it does incorporate Mecha, Minipla it is. I ordered both classic Minipla sets of Thunder Gridman, and King Gridman Sigma. From the reviews I've seen, they seem solid and with a little custom magic, they have potential to be amazing. Once I have those done, then will most likely pick up a SSSS Gridman Minipla set. I am just not a fan of his legs appearing to have not as much sculpted detail as they should, but sadly, it may end up being a more solid construct than Act Builder or DX Max. Hopefully less parts formery than other miniplas. The classic Gridman only has minor parts forming and looks show accurate, which is what sold me on those. Voltron... Yuck. |

Let's make no mistake. He's not good. Not by a long shot. But is he as bad as some are making it out to be? Not really. The stickers suck. The lack of tube integration sucks. The poor connection points for the helmets (or lack thereof) suck. The poseability sucks. The cheapy plastic that lacks any kind of weight or diecast sucks (to be fair, that might have been deliberate to mitigate any stability issues).
...HOWEVER. It's still fun to mess around with and combine. While certain parts are loose, he doesn't crumble or fall apart that easily and it is rather easy to combine and take apart. While I don't think it's worth the asking price, as a fan of the series, I don't regret buying it. As-is it seems to be the best option out of all the Gridman figures out there, until Bandai does a DX Chogokin of some kind. Well, one can hope. (^.^') The mini-pla's also about a 100 bucks, is smaller, requires more work to put together and will feature stickers and parts-forming as well. While I think the mini-pla is a great option, depending on what you're looking for, I don't think it's necessarily better than the DX set even taking into account the DX's shortcomings. |

I got mine today. Den-O, I'm so sorry. After I applied the stickers, built the hands and combined this thing I was done. It’s really, really bad. I now have a brief glimpse of what you had to suffer through in order to shoot this gallery and I feel awful.
What a piece of absolute garbage. And I paid more than 100 bucks for it too; I hate myself for ordering this junk. Most if not all issues you described are present with mine, plus a particularly nasty one to boot: Some factory worker touched the glossy black part of the Gridman Calibur while the paint wasn’t done so now his fingerprints are forever engraved into this toy. That’s disgusting. I now have it all combined standing somewhere on the shelf and it’ll stay there, at least this kinda sorta works as a display piece. But as a DX toy? Hah! Nope. |

Absolutely love mine. I wish the marketing had been more clear to everyone that this is a DX toy with more bells and whistles and not just a collector's item downgraded. As it stands, those issues are issues no matter what.

Considering the price, the amount of extra work you need to do is really just unacceptable.
