Saban wanted exposure; he's certainly getting it now.
Maybe getting this sort of thing will make him shape up, perhaps make something more than constant "MMPR 2.0s" |

We hope it will, but Saban didn't get to where he is in Life without having an exceptionally thick skin. He's heard dozens of complaints, from friend and foe alike. Honest Trailers, Cinefix, and Cinemasins for him would be mildly amusing, if he even bothers to look!

That's a bit of an oxymoron. The only reason they did it was because of the views, precisely because a new product is coming out that's tangentially related.
People are going to be searching Power Rangers as the film comes closer to release. Being large channels, these videos will appear at the top of the search, netting more views. It's a business move to increase profit. They might not need the views, but views certainly aren't turned down. Plus, I don't get why there is this hate on for people who do dothings for views. Oh no, how dare someone who does it for money want to make money to continue living. That is just barbaric! |

Believe it or not, not everything is done for monetary reasons. Honest Trailers could do anything this week and they still would get the same number of views.

It's this "artistic" snobbery that you used to see all the time. You know, the idea that the only "real" artists are the starving kind and that anyone making a profit was clearly a sellout. Completely coincidentally, this usually came from the same circles and colleges espousing socialism and communism's virtues and the evils of capitalism.
It was kind of the proto-hipsters when you think about it. |

Funny videos. I like Cinema Sins because I like they nit pick movies for fun. They are not meant to be taken seriously.

Basically, the idea is that if you're making money off of it, it can't be called "real" art, and if you did make money off of anything, you were a sellout. It's stupid, but people as a whole believe all kinds of things with no basis in reality all the time. I could go down my personal gripe list, but unlike some around here I actually respect the no politics/religion rule... mostly because I'm not on the "right" side, if you will... Moving on, the attitude has mostly gone extinct, especially with stuff like Patreon and the like making it easier than ever to monetize creative endeavors. |
