I feel like R/B is a show that really grows on you over time and you learn to embrace what works for it (the comedy, the kind of low-key vibe, the strong family dynamic, etc.).
I'm curious to see what Takasue does on a more traditional Ultra show like Decker is shaping up to be. |

R/B is great, I just think people don't give it a fair chance because it's more comedic than the standard Ultra series. Agreed that Aizen is fantastic up until he gets casually written off. It's a sharp pivot I don't entirely understand.
And yes, Gruebe was 100% CGI, apparently due to time constraints and the complexity of the action scenes. |

I still have a few episodes to go, but I would agree. I stopped watching after a few episodes when it first aired, but going back I realize that I really missed something special. Between Aizen and Mitsurugi, it had some of my favorite villains from the New Generation era.

Having seen a bunch of Ultras by now, R/B is still one of my favourites. Like Ginga it's not your typical Ultra fare and I can see that turning a lot of fans off, but go in accepting it on its own terms and you'll find a lot to love. Easily one of my favourite family-centred Tokusatsu shows

I finished 80. It was an unfocused boring mess. That's all that you need for me to say.
EDIT: Made a tier list of the shows I've seen so far Last edited by SHINOBI03; 05-01-2022 at 02:19 PM.. |

I remember R/B being the first Ultra Show I watched raw (the first episode at least), but I really loved it from the start, even considering it the Fourze of New Gen Ultra.
I liked 80, but it was that final episode that absolutely won me, seeing UGM take out a monster without the aid of 80 was just so good. I do agree it's messy, it loses its theme at times, but I enjoyed it. Anyway, The Destined Crossroads Opening! Late this month, looking forward to it. |

I'm very tempted to and eventually will re-watch R/B. It was, until Trigger came along, easily my least favorite of the New Generation shows. Even though at the time I fully admitted it was not a bad show, and I only had to rank it that low because every other one was better to me.
But now I realize a lot of that was due to the designs not working for me, which is something I can overlook nowadays, and also the fact that it was not broadcasted to the west. Geed was the last show to stream on Crunchyroll IIRC, then that deal ended and - nothing until Taiga aired on YouTube. So R/B was out in the wild only and got no real coverage. One group started, stopped, then only sporadic updates and a cancellation until a new group entirely emerged and finished it. But that meant a lot of breaks in between and a lot of frustration trying to watch the show. I'm not an entitled "yOu OWe ME mY sUBs"-idiot, I know what we enjoy is brought to us by the sacrifice of free time and hard work others muster and I'm grateful for it. But R/B suffered for me personally because of this situation, I think I even grew annoyed at it a little, so all that is just on me for being a weak human being. I want to give it another chance eventually. Because honestly, I only have fond memories of it. The characters were fun and wholesome, the action was great, and the villains were a pure delight. Aizen was great and Saki - I adore her. Her relationship with Asahi was fantastic, every scene they shared was a treat. I'm looking forward to watching it again. |
