There's a lot here that I didn't enjoy quite as much as I wanted to due to the very odd pacing and non-existent flow, but I just wanna say one little thing right now.
I love Ui. I don't remember the last time I liked a Sentai side character as much as her. PLEASE let her be Ryusoul Gold |

She will be misora or the girl from w, where the dad is hiding something. She might be the silly turn serious/emotion of the cast. They hired a new writer, so I hope it goes more serious in storyline like build while maintaining the clever comedy bit instead of character fillers and shafting the villains aside until the end.

I liked this episode but it really does feel like the standard modern Sentai pilot, except even flashier and even faster with the things it throws at you. You can kinda really tell they're making sure to throw everything that you possibly need to know about this show right off the bat, from having both OP and ED sequences, to the fully formed mecha despite Tyramigo having a standalone robot mode.
I did actually like it, but I guess I'm spoiled by how Lupin Vs Pat actually took it's time during it's (two-part) pilot. I guess this means Sentai really is back to form! For better or for worse. I do sincerely look forward to the rest of this show, but I'm really not expecting anything we haven't seen a million (or 65 million) times before. Instead, I'm expecting a loud, good time, and it looks like we'll be getting that. Sure do hope somewhere down the line, this franchise will be able to shake up the pace again... And then suffer from a monetary value because of that, and then go back to basics again. Probably with ninjas, or racecars. |

Although it was obvious the mentors would die pretty quickly - it's a genre trope - I thought the deaths by dragonfire were one of the harshest moments I've seen in Sentai in ages. (The only similarly shocking one that comes to mind was the Scorpio-Champ thing from Kyuranger.) I dug it, but I wonder if Toei is going to get parental complaints.

Someone else already pointed out Go-OnSilver. In addition, a female extra hero has been done, and recently. If Ryusoulger continues to adhere so closely to the format of Kyoryuger (genders, colors, mecha, the arm-switching, etc.,) then we'll like see a female seventh hero... who will then rarely appear thereafter, and won't get to pilot her own mecha.
Pure speculation, of course, given the shows' presumably-deliberate similarities. We haven't yet seen any hints that Ryusoulger will mimic the extra gray, cyan, and silver heroes. Also, if Ryusoulger were going to essentially duplicate Yayoi, the color violet was already used for Gaizorg. |
