Hello everyone!
I wanted to create this thread to just share my current Super Sentai experience/journey and also catch you all's thoughts too. However, my memory of some of them is becoming more and more fuzzy lol. I knew about Super Sentai via Power Rangers, but never really delved into it. I want to say it was toward the wrapping up of Power Rangers Samurai that I stumbled onto a YT channel that talked about what exactly is Super Sentai, Kamen Rider, and Ultraman. That channel listed their top 5 picks from each show, but for Super Sentai they suggested Gokaiger. I gave Gokaiger a go and LOVED it, but them using and connecting with past shows left me curious/wanting to know more in a way. So back to that same YT channel, they also suggested Jetman for it's darker tone. I gave that a go and loved it too and after that I was hooked on Super Sentai. At the time, I did check out Zyuranger because I wanted to see what the original source of Power Rangers was like and although it wasn't my favorite, it was still enjoyable to watch. And then I had to sudden urge to watch every single Super Sentai in order of airing. I checked out Goranger via the episodes I could catch at the time. And as old as Goranger is, I cannot put my thumb on it, but I really enjoyed it. I do think part of it is just seeing a small view of the 70's via Japan that interest me so much. And I absolutely loved Peggy, she was a BOSS and went right into the danger with no hesitation unlike some others down the road. Cannot wait to continue it once it's complete. I wanted to check out J.A.K.Q., but with so little episodes there was just no way. And from what I have seen, it seems okay, but I have no real connection with the story or characters for that matter unlike Goranger. Battle Fever J wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. From beginning to end, it was just something that I enjoyed watching myself. Very interesting to the the "first" actual megazord in action. Memory is fuzzy, but I want to say it was BFJ's zord that had weapons for days, but cannot remember. Denziman was skipped until more episodes become available. Sun Vulcan I absolutely loved it. It is one of my top Super Sentai shows to this day. It was interesting being accustom to a 5 person team, straight to a 3 person team with this show. And I do agree that the lack of a female did seem odd, but they did have a lot of female characters around which made up for it I guess. Goggle V was also skipped until more episodes become available. Skipped Dynaman, waiting for it to be completed as I'm half way done, but decided not to wait and went straight to Bioman... |

Bioman as of now is my number #1 favorite Super Sentai to date. The one thing that I liked the most (again have a fuzzy memory) is that it just seemed like every episode Bioman would use some sort of new attack that I have never seen previous. And it wasn't a 15 episodes in moment and you're thinking to yourself, "...where did that come from? Where was that attack 10 episodes prior?" lol. It was more of a refreshing type of moment of not fully knowing what you were going to get. The main bad guys were not my favorite villains of all times, but I did like how they eventually were upgraded to be better than Bioman and how Bioman had to figure out how to become stronger because of it. Now I know so people may not like that, but I viewed it from the perspective of this being the first of its kind to attempt this (via again, not being able to watch the ones I had to skip over).
Changeman was a let down for me as I did not like it as much as Bioman. And for me, it's kinda weird or I have noticed that I liked the characters both out and in their suits more so in Bioman than Changeman, but I liked Changeman's villains way more than Bioman's. It was here when I started to notice more how the show seem to be pushing Red as like the center of attention, but it was really subtle. Things such as when they would transform, you would hear Change Dragon call his name out, but you did not hear anybody else's name after that lol. Flashman was the same as J.A.K.Q. and Goggle V, very few available episodes, but not enough episodes to become fully grasped by it. Maskman I did like better than Changeman, but I liked Maskman storyline more so, and the character's were not that bad. It was here that I really notice they were PUSHING Red Mask to be the center of attention. Like I said before, Changeman was more subtle to, where as...hell, the entire storyline is even wrapped around Red Mask. I did get the sense that Change Dragon seemed to be a leader (I felt that), but for some reason, I just could not feel that Red Mask was a leader/or sensed a leadership role with him. And I also felt that Pink Mask and Yellow Mask wasn't as strong when compared with Change Phoenix and Change Mermaid. Currently I'm at Liveman and I literally just started. I do like how the story is going so far and I loved how they broke the first episode up into two parts, similar to Maskman, where as with Goggle V for example, I could not follow the first episode at all. There was just soooo much happening so fast. So that's where journey is currently at right now, but I am still enjoying myself. And also in-between, I have checked out the Metal Heroes series. Space Sheriff Gavan was just okay for me. Space Sheriff Sharivan out of all three of them is my favorite for some reason. Space Sheriff Shaider is close to that top spot, but it will always have a special place for being part of VR Troopers. Metalder I liked the villains, it just had such a dark tone that I enjoyed. Ahhhh, so you are going in order, huh? That might be the smarter way to go because nothing has been able to match my love for the 90s series.

But I too cannot wait to check the 90's Sentai as Liveman places me around 1988 I believe. I remember watching one episode and I literally was like, "OMG, is that a...a...walkman?" lol |
