Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask, but it is slightly relevant, and I didn't feel it warranted it's own thread.
Why do people hate the Disney Era so much? I've only recently got back into the fandom in the past three years or so and my actual viewing experience of the show since then consists of a handful of episodes of Samurai, RPM and most of SPD, so all this hate toward it kind of goes over my head. What did they do that was so terrible? |

What did they do that was so terrible? Yes it's unfair to hate all of Disney's Seasons, just as it is unfair to hate the entire Kalish Era and Bruce Kalish himself. It's why I hold all seasons to a first and foremost base standard of "Best Megazord Design." It's something the Sentai can't be used in for judging characters or story, nor BoA for modifying in domestic release. I do not like DaiBouken/the DriveMax Megazord, nor do I like the Sixth Ranger's mecha, the land battleship, or the non-drill accessory mecha. And that's what I use to help make a season's praises or scorn affect my going in to it. Jungle Fury is often forgotten sadly, and it did do quite well with managing the Sentai footage and story. I'm sorry, but Gekiranger, WHILE VERY GOOD, has to many two parters early on. The Kensei giving the Gekirangers new weapons didn't NEED to be stretched into two parts, but it wasn't detrimental to the overall season. Goseiger it hated by so many, but considering it's placement in the series and a more "generally simple and nice" story, not to mention simple toys and card gimmick, I can see how some would not like it. But I don't. I see it as a nice season with a catchy and very nice theme song, great toys, and an awesome movie exclusive mecha ( ). But that is just my opinion. And the superficial is how I begin examining a season. That IS how kids are drawn in. Why do you think Zyuranger was picked for the first season of Power Rangers? Because dinosaurs are popular with kids. Long story short: Disney just hit a big pothole and people's nostalgia and love of the Sentai exasperated the problems too much. |

What did they do that was so terrible? It's because of Disney that the series was moved to NZ. Disney pretty much went every day saying that PR was on the chopping block. Disney aired new episodes in the most eclectic of times and wasn't afraid to cut airings for any other special. It was Disney's handling on the series, rather than the quality of it themselves.

After hearing a good chunk of this, I don't blame Ashley for deciding not go to. Same with Cardenas and anyone else. Sure, what some actors/actresses said before may have rubbed folks wrong with their reasoning, but the way Ashley explained it, made a lot more sense.
Hopefully the 20th anniversary celebration will still be exciting but I can't help but feel that what Saban did tainted the fun; it's not going to be as exciting as it could've been and it's his fault.

It is Power Rangers TWENTY but Saban only cares about selling toys, the majority of the people buying the toys are young children who have possibly never even seen a season before Megaforce so they are the specific area of the audience who DON'T care about the PR legacy. As such Saban knows he can put zero percent into the legacy season and still achieve his personal goals. He doesn't care about his adult fanbase and why should he? As much as MMPR nostalgia on the internet will trick you into thinking the adults put money into this franchise, most of the nostalgia hype around MMPR aren't by fans at all but sad adults trying to look alternative. Really the truest fans are the kids watching the reruns, buying the toys and playing Megaforce in the playgrounds, they are Saban's bread and butter and they are who Saban will focus on. It hurts but I'm just gonna have to accept it.

I laughed most of the way through as i totally agree with the sentiments she expressed. How dare people demand they 'do it for the fans' when its obvious that these people have no concept of how real life works, jobs and businesses come first, the sense of entitlement in the fandom is staggering at times. these actors spend all year making appearances for the fans, year after year, they give back so much. Good for Karan, getting on the net to set things straight is a brave thing to do as she risked raising the ire of the more idiotic, selfish and irrational fans.

While I'm not defending Saban, how much of this is really his mismanagement? From what I gather, the man spends more time in between flights from the States to Israel (which is his 2nd home I'm guessing) so there has to be someone else calling the shots.

Thought it was interesting that Jason David Frank clarified things at Dallas Comic Con, mentioning that Power Rangers Productions was going to pick ten people. So even if all 60 something people replied and said "YES I WANT TO COME!", if they weren't on the list that PRP was wanting to bring in, they were going to be denied.
Makes me think that Mike Chat, Cerina Vincent, and anyone else is about to get the "Sorry but no" e-mail.
