I think, Civil War, Homecoming (and the two sequels), Infinity War, and Avengers 4 take place in the 2020 - 2022 area. That would fit better with keeping Peter in high school, since the earliest Homecoming 3 would come out is likely 2021. This keeps the established timeline of Iron Man taking place in 2010, Fury's Big Week (Iron Man 2, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, and the modern day scenes in Captain America) in 2011, and Avengers and Iron Man 3 in 2012.

Your timeline is messed up.
Iron Man was in 2008. The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, and Avengers were in 2009. Iron Man 3 is Xmas of 2009 (they say 6 months after NYC). Winter Soldier happens in 2011. Civil War is in 2016 (they say they have been hunting Bucky for 5 years and Vision says, "You started this 8 years ago Mr Stark). Doctor Strange is right after Civil War (Stephen's call about an airforce captain who broke his back is Rhodie). Spider-man is 2017. That leaves Thor 2, Avengers 2, and Ant-Man. Ant-Man is not too long after Avengers 2, and Civil War happens shortly after Ant-Man. |

The more accurate reason for the 8 years later card is this:
It is extremely likely that the director made a mistake. Similar mistakes have been made in the past ( Stan Lee's cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (set in 2014) where he mentions being a FedEx driver (which was in 2016). James Gunn came out and admitted that the line was a mistake. ) You have to look at the whole picture and not just one movie of the Cinematic Universe The beginning of Iron Man 3 (confirmed by Kevin Feige to take place 6 months after The Avengers) starts off in 1999. In the movie Tony mentioned to a girl that he hooked up with back in 1999 that "There better not be a 12 year old kid waiting for me in the car." The woman goes on to say that the kid is 13. This puts Iron Man 3 NOT in 2009 but in 2012 (it is likely this woman had the kid prior, as Tony recalled that he met the woman on New Year's Eve 1999 and that being 12 years before. On top of that, it takes 9 months for a baby to develop in the womb). Simple math solves that one And we know that the movie takes place around Christmas time (the date is mentioned), putting Iron Man 3 in December 2012 and Avengers six months before in May or June 2012. Nick Fury states in Avengers that the events of Thor takes place the year prior, placing it AND Iron Man 2, The Incredible Hulk, and the modern day events in Captain America: The First Avenger in May of 2011. The first Iron Man likely did not take place more than a year before that, as Vanko was shown to be nearly as, if not completely, as smart as Stark, able to build a miniaturized arc reactor and a custom suit. This easily places the events of the first Iron Man in late 2010. This means that mistakes were made in both Civil War (Vision stating that Stark revealed his identity 8 years prior when it was closer to 5 1/2 to 6 years prior, although this was one line and someone forgot that Iron Man was retconned to being in 2010) AND Spider-Man Homecoming (the 8 years later bit, which would place Homecoming in 2020, placing it 4 years after Civil War, when it is supposed to take place a few months after). As for Doctor Strange, the beginning takes place in early 2016, and Rhodey is not 35 years old, but is closer to 48 - 50 (his birthdate being listed as being in October 1968). While it is hard to find WHERE this birthdate is mentioned in canon, he is also a known member of the Avengers, signed the Sokovia Accords, and would not need the cover of "injured in a training accident" when he was in fact injured trying to bring in Captain America and his team. Even then, Civil War takes place in spring of 2016, while Doctor Strange is off trying to find a way to get healed or even (at that point) learning magic at Kamar-Taj. Next time you try to say someone is wrong, do your research and look at the bigger picture instead of just one movie. Last edited by thunderstrike541; 07-09-2017 at 08:05 PM.. |

First off, I didn't say anyone was wrong. I said it was a bit off and provided my examples as to why. Just because you didn't like my explanation does not mean you had to get an attitude over it. Secondly, you are the one who is wrong. Avengers IS in 2009. I researched the timeline last year when Civil War came out.

Saw Spidey on Friday.
It was good. Nothing really bothered me too much. I'm a little disappointed that literally everything outside the web shooters were built by Stark, though. Was hoping he'd just tinker in Stark's lab and come up with some shit, but Stark did it all already. But that's just kind of a small problem I had, and I enjoyed the movie as a whole.

Eh, timeline's just a bit of a mess right now. Which shouldn't be that surprising that mistakes will be made when trying to coordinate such a large projects. But I'm definitely on the side of Iron Man - Avengers taking place in 2008 - 2010. Some good discussion here of the timeline if you care to take a look. For the most part, might be best to just let it be a little hazy and sliding to just fit what you need in a given instance. Doesn't need to be super concrete.
Aaaanywho. Saw Homecoming yesterday and really liked it while watching. Got hung up a lot on nitpicks while talking about it with friends after the fact, but my feelings while walking out of the theater were of joy. It was fun and Holland did a fantastic job.

I'm not really against Karen. I'm not a big fan of it, but she didn't bother me. It makes sense the suit would have an AI like JARVIS or FRIDAY. I wouldn't be too broken up if she speaks less frequently in upcoming movies, though.
I just don't like that the spider tracers, the signal, the web wings, the drone, and his impact webbing were all developed by Stark. I can buy that Parker wouldn't have access to the stuff required to develop it, but I would've liked if Peter was the mind behind that stuff. Like, perhaps in the Vlog we would see Parker telling Stark about all his different ideas on the ride to Germany or something.
